Quick one

Champ yesterday was brilliant after nearly 3 weeks off.

I was gone on holidays for 2 weeks, and when I came back he cut the outside of his RH coronet band and back of pastern. Not sure how - searched the paddock and could find nothing. I figure he must have slipped off the standing boards by the automatic waterer or something.

So I rode him outside through the snow before the weather turned to shit (and it's too dark after work anyway) then he got the rest of the week off except for me checking his cut and Red-Koteing it. It's not killer-deep, but deep enough that I don't want to risk getting sand in it.

So I rode him yesterday and vetwrapped the shit out of his foot, which didn't last long because it wore through really quick (note to self - remember duct tape today).

He was awesome. Nailed his canter transitions the very moment I asked for them, got all leads and was generally a rock star.

I also finally brought out a full length cooler I bought from Greenhawk (for 70% off might I add!) years ago that's never been used. Champ worked up a fair sweat yesterday, so I put the cooler on him. It dried him off faster than I would have ever thought possible! Everywhere the cooler touched was dry as a bone, so it fucking ROCKS that it goes all the way up the neck.

Best part - I hung it up while I fed Champ's concentrates and put him back in his paddock, and when I came back - DRY COOLER.
