After a long day I came home-had pizza for dinner and turned on the tv. As I flipped through the channel’s I came upon a Walt Disney World Special on the Travel Channel. So I settled down and enjoyed a Disney evening! First they covered the Magic Kingdom-then Epcot and the MGM studios..the Animal Kingdom and all of the other Disney parks-then another episode covered the Disney Cruise line-then yet another covered the Disney Island.
I love Disney.
I always haveJ
Just how much? Well.. here are some fun facts about me. (In no particular order)
*I have very clear memories of each Disney movie I ever saw in the theaters and who I saw it with. I don’t know why-other movies I don’t remember like this, but with anything Disney-I do.
...for example: When I was in High School, I took my girlfriend Shananne to see Beauty and the Beast. I still have the movie ticket stub. It was a special night-she was visiting from college and hey-how could we go wrong with Disney?
*When I was in the sixth grade, I saved up my pennies so that I could take Brenda-a girl I had a crush on, to see the Disney Movie “The Black Culdron”. I never got to go though-she didn’t like meL But let me tell you, that was tough saving up money when you don’t get an allowance..I was finding pennies everwhere and carefully saving them!
*I have been to Disney World six times and Disneyland once.
*In Disney World, I have had the great honor of having performed several times. Once in front of Cinderellas Castle, twice in a parade.
At Disneyland I have performed once, in a parade.
*I have been backstage at both DisneyWorld and Disneyland.
*My cousin worked for Disney. He was one of the tour guides on the Jungle Cruise ride.
*When I was in college I bought a dog and promptly named her DisneyJ
*In my dorm room throughout my entire college career I had Disney posters everywhere. Other guys had scantily clad posters of various busty models-me?~I had Jasmine, Ariel and Belle, lol. Yeah-I have always been a bit different…. I was also probably the only straight college guy that had a collection of porcelein Disney figurines.
*I was hired by Disney in the summer 1994. However, I had to turn down the offer due to a conflict of interests. I was concurrently employed by Paramount’s Kings Island-and Disney had a policy that did not allow employees to work for a competitor. I had to choose Paramount because they could offer me more hours at a higher rate of pay. It was an agonizing choice let me tell you....
So anyway, here I am writing this up-while listening to the soundtrack of The Lion King. I LOVE Disney stuff. The last time I visited Disney World was back in 1996 when Ohio State was in the Citrus Bowl. Due to the Bowl Game performance obligations, I didn’t really get to spend much time there at all.
I can’t believe it’s been eleven years!~ack.
My family never really took vacations growing up. In fact-while we took a few small vacations the only “big” vacation we ever took was to Walt Disney World when I was in the 5th grade. I have so many memories from that one trip. It was ..magic to me and I guess that even though the years have rolled by I still feel incredibly drawn to all things Disney. It reminds me of family, fun, friends-and just happy times.
Ah-the song “Can you feel the Love tonight” just came on. I love this song. Disney movies have the best love songs...
I wonder when I will get back there. I have dreams of taking my kids to Disney World someday..the things I want them to see and experience..the amazement I felt and still feel at it all..the wonder of it all..… It’s like the perfect family vacation. But I suppose it will be quite awhile before I am able to make all those dreams a reality-but I will.. if God allows it, I will. :)
