make the noise i live for the noise!!...

man alive...i am a busy girl...how busy you say?? i'm doing homework a week before its due--b/c i know i wont have time to do it any later!! its insane...and frankly--i'm scared...

equus had its first read-thru friday afternoon---we were only missing one...which was pretty impressive considering the murderuously mis-matched availabilites my cast all have...serisouly--this show will be the death of me--but putting on the show wont be a problem...scheduling rehearsals will be...anyway--first blocking rehearsal is tomorrow night...and a few of the actors have already approached me about how much they love their characters...it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside to know that people can connect with their mid-career crisis psychologists, their militantly religious mothers, or their just plain crazy horse-blinders....is that weird??

by the way--professor viatore--is so smitten with my show...seriously--its adorable in my opinion....he wants to come on as dramaturg for my show--and he serisouly sounds so cute...lol...the best way to explain it is in his own words (these are only pieces of his adorable email):

...i was seriously involved with the theatre project at the college where i
started my career, so being able to attend a rehearsal or two of a play
that i find fascinating as a theatregoer and a teacher is exciting...

...my classes that will read Equus are the two early morning ones. we will
not study the play until the very end of the semester. needless to say,
i will encourage my students to attend the performances. perhaps, after
the production, you and i can discuss a time that you (and maybe some of
the cast) might be able to offer for both classes to explore the play...

...until then, if you think that i might be able to address some of your
questions or if you think that an informal discussion with your cast (as
a whole or one-to-one) would help, please ask...

...Equus is a brilliant, significant play, and im proud that Rowan has
some one who is ready to take it on. thank you for that as well...

so, there was a cast party for stopkiss here last night...wow...i cant even go into it except for the fact that my bedroom was a sancturary for myself, brian, and any other sober individual (which i guess would only be adam??)...and someone lost part of their finger...yeah-needless to say--i'm tired today...

today brian and i went to the mall and walked around for a while...holy crap--build-a-bear has a border collie...one of these days i'll crack and go get him...lol...but anyway--it was nice to get off-campus and not have to work somewhere while doing it...

on that note--i have my own private drama student--as well as 3 classes i'm teaching...2 of which have been moved to saturday and combined with another class for the sake of the final recital...i got to work with the entire group the other day--and man--they were so great-it went so well...they all started to get along and learn each other's names and all...and i love when they think i'm cool...shows i'm a good actor...lol...

in other news--i'm getting law & order: svu season 1 for my birthday from brian...they didnt have law & order season 14---but thats ok---at least i like the svu season 1 cast...its even before they get cabot...so thats a plus...lol....but yeah--i dont know if i get to watch it now or if i have to wait till friday...but either way--i'm still antsy...lol

well--i have a bit more work to do for tomorrow...but the only thing i have left is costume designs--and theyre only pencil sketches...and a color palette...no big deal...it jsut takes creativity--something i cant exactly skim through...thats the only thing i hate about theatrical work--im always so damn particular...grrr....

oh--and in the span on 24 hours...my production staff like--doubled in size...this little lab production i thought was going to be me and some actors has now grown into 9 actors, myself, and a production staff of 6...some of the titles in the mix there include: director/costume designer, stage manager/costume coordinator, assistant stage manager, set designer/lighting designer, lighting designer/light board operator, master electrician, and dramaturg...wow---lol--and i just realized i still need a sound board operator...lol...how ironic....but yeah--my point was--the crew like doubled in size within hours of the first read-thru...this thing is becoming huge already...i'm in so much trouble...lol

well--time to put off costume design for a little bit longer...i'm sure there's a law & order on somewhere...
