i just got back from a faculty review...originally it was a performance-based review for juniors--but dr.liz said some of the seniors should go anyway just for feedback...it was really insightful...the entire faculty (excluding phil--big surprise...and dr.joe--who had to leave right before my turn)...claims theyhave read equus--and all stand behind me and the choice of nudity...wow--big shock...i couldnt believe it....dr.liz was telling me i was one of the more gifted students...it was weird--i anticiapted an attack...every time we mentioned last year i got lots of apologies and explanations...they asked me for feedback--wanted to know how i feel...every time equus was mentioned david got all hot & bothered and kept saying what a great show it was to all the other faculty members....lol....it was pretty cool...
they did ask a lot about my future...which is expected...and i explained that it depends on where i am in the next few years--literally where i am located...it also depends on whether or not i go into performance or directing--and it was still up in the air---and david was thrilled--"good! thats a good thing!! take time--its goods--youll know what you should do when the time comes--why doe syour life have to end now?"...fusco told me directors take a good 10 years to get into grad school sometimes...david goes "thats a good thing--dont let it scare you--its ok--use it! let it influence you...let it motivate you--it doesnt matter--do theatre wherever you are--start one if you have to--its not scary!!"....it was so cute....but i walked out of what i thought was going to be a heated debate feeling respected and loved and supported for the first time in a long time...the entire faculty (save for one-duh) is behind the nudity--they support it--and would be disappointed if i didnt do it...wow...
however...now im thinking about my future...i took a walk for a half hour when i walked out of there...and did a lot of thinking....no conclusions....just healthy thought...*sigh*....anyway--life is good--future uncertain and scary...lol
thanksgiving this week...that means turkey, mashed potatoes, the family, and national lampoons christmas vacation...man oh man i cant wait...
for the record--despite our different answers--brian and i both got the same answer for this quiz...mind you--he took it twice--once to get mashed potatoes...a second to see his real answer....both were mashed potatoes...anyway, he doesnt have a journal--so i told him i'd put it it mine...here ya go baby:
