Seattle

Tonight is our last night in Seattle.  We flew out Thursday for Nick's wedding.  It's kind of hard to believe that any of us cousins are old enough to be graduating from college or getting married.. or generally being something close to an adult.

The wedding was held at Fort Worden which is in Port Townsend.  The ceremony was beautiful, the only thing that could have made it better was the presence of the entire Congelli family.  The morning of the wedding I went for a walk on the beach and I was thinking about that... I really wish Grandpa had come to the wedding.  Grandma would have made him come.  And I wish that Grandma had still been alive so that she could have come to the wedding.. or really have seen any of her grandkids past the age of 5.

Apparently Lauren was thinking along the same lines.  We were sitting around while they were taking pictures before the ceremony started and I noticed she was wearing a neclace with a name written in arabic.  When I asked her if that was her name she said "No, it was Grandma's.  I saw it in my mom's jewelery box and I thought I'd wear it today so it would be like she was here too."  It was at this point that I pretty much lost it.  It was to be the first of many points at which I lost it.  The next one didn't happen until I saw Nick walk down the aisle with the minister.  And it hit me that this was really happening, and I was struck by how mature he was.  Since they always lived so far away, we never really got to see them very much.  The last time I had seen Nick before today was in 2001 when they came to visit. Vivian was just about to start Kindergarden, Maria and Jack were just little, and Kate wasn't even born yet.  And Nick was still in college.  And now he's married.  All through the ceremony I just kept remembering times when we were little and they would come to visit.  Going to Cedar Point, going to the zoo, Grandpa taking us fishing on Lake Erie...

But yeah, all in all it was a fantastic wedding.  Pictures to follow as soon as we get home and I can load them onto the computer. (we left the cords at home... silly us...)
