Since I'm obviously not going to hear about grad school for awhile, and I've still got a ways to wait before all the Harry Potter madness begins.. I'm trying to get myself all psyched up and prepared for it by re-reading all 6 books before the seventh one is released... I"m about halfway through Prisoner of Azkaban. And I'm pretty much at the point where I need to read about a book per week to have them all done by July 21. This should get interesting when I get to Order of the Phoenix and such with it's great whopping massiveness... I'll be hard pressed to finish that book in a week I think..
Mind you that when it came out in '03 I finished it in a day. However... there is a difference between marathon speed reading (which is what you do when the books first come out- cause you just want to know what freaking happens) and slowly, carefully reading the books.. because nothing is in there by accident. Names mentioned in earlier books that you don't necessarily pay attention to become important later on in the series... Horcruxes were seen and talked about before we even knew what they actually were... Sneaky.. very sneaky... which makes me wonder.. what else have I missed.. and what else might be important for the last book. So here I am, slowly plodding through the books... even though I probably should have been writing my little reflections (they're too short to even be called 'essays') on the movies we watched in class... but I totally forgot about them till now. Oh well.
And now for something completely different.
I was very pleased that my Dad liked his Father's Day present. :) We got him season 1 of The Muppet Show. This may seem silly or slightly shocking (when you think about my father...) but he is really a fan of the Muppets, and I have to admit, I am too. It's classic comedy. So anyway, much of the day was spent with Muppets on in the background. And now I'm definately sure that I'll get him season 2 for his birthday. It's perfect timing since it comes out in August.
There was something else I was gonna mention... Oh yeah! I finished a tiny knitting project this weekend.. I made the cat toys from Stitch n Bitch Nation. They turned out pretty cute. I don't feel like trying to upload the pictures here, but you can see them here at my
knitting blog. The blue one is my favorite. I think I'll have to make a couple more and start giving them away to all my cat-owning-friends :)
Alright. I suppose it's time to go to bed.
