Grad schools: I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED TO TWO DIFFERENT GRAD SCHOOLS!!! I am very excited about this, as you can see. I haven't gotten any news on funding yet, which makes me nervous because I'm a pessimist and money is tight (isn't it for everyone?), but I'm still waiting. I have three applications still to hear from and was considering sending out one to UGlasgow, but I don't know if I want to put in the energy and such for it. Also, I wouldn't hear back for a while and I need to start making decisions. Blergh. I will be glad when this is set and I know what's going on. BUT AT LEAST I'M GOING BACK TO SCHOOL HUZZAH.
Work: One job is now finished. We had the production this past weekend and it was a success. Everyone I've talked to seemed to really like it, and we had some great feedback on presentation and encouragement to do something more with it (i.e. publish our translations, take it on the road, farm it out to churches, that sort of thing). I hope we do actually do something with it, because I've loved working with this material and learning how dramaturgy works and that sort of thing. I also just love medieval theatre, so that helps. We'll see what happens. For right now my other four jobs are keeping me busy; I'm delighted that tomorrow I have my first true day off in about two weeks, which I will spend re-reading terribly wonderful Janet Evanovich novels or something to decompress before attending a friend's senior recital.
Family: Are still ridiculous. What more can be said?
Friends: Are still there, but shifting. Lots of marriages happening this year, which is crazy. I'm thrilled about a couple of them, lukewarm on a couple of others, but hey, who asked my opinion? If they're happy, that's cool.
Other: Finally broke down and got a new cell phone to replace the one I've had for six years. That thing was a tank, and awesome, and I will miss its durability. Fortunately the new one is very simple (no camera, no video, no QWERTY keyboard, just a phone for calling and texting) and I do admit, I like how slim it is. It might actually fit into my pockets and such now, because girl jeans are just not functionally designed.
Broke a board the other day in martial arts, which is cool. I don't think I'm going to hop on the breaking bandwagon, but it was cool to do once. Also, I have a baseball-sized bruise on my shin from losing a kicking match while sparring--very pretty, I must say. Also, painful as hell when I forget and bang it against something else. War wounds. Good stuff.
That's kind of all that's going on right now. Thanks to those of you who stick around for very random and distantly spaced updates. Hope all is well in your world.
Quiz!!
You Are Blocks
You've always been a architect of projects, even when you were a kid.
You tend to dream big, and there's a part of you that feels like you can build anything.
You are highly inventive and imaginative. As a kid, you didn't need fancy toys to make you happy.
You could make a game out of anything. You were (and are) very resourceful.
What Childhood Toy Are You? Blogthings: A Fine Line Between Insight and Stupidity Well, the second paragraph is very true. So, half well done. What about you guys?
