Well, my father has successfully moved back to portland... after three years in seclusion back out in Indiana. He arrived un-anounced, save a warning text message from my brother last monday.
He's moved into a rather interesting roomate situation, a lovely HUGE victorian house on Mt Tabor full of 55+ single men. The house is quite amazing and full of even more amazing antiques, and run by a chatty man named Martin.
Hopefully they will get along alright. Either way though, the stress of his arrival is fading.
Still all sorts of family feuding about the death of my grandmother. Where she should be, etc.
She has terminal cancer - - Im not sure how long she has to live, but my aunts decided to take her away from her home in Indiana and move her to Texas to see if there was any kind of cure, which there wasnt. (even after she made it clear she wanted to die in the peace of her own home)... ugh.
My hours at work are about 50% reduced. The boss of my last company wants to talk to me though, might be interested in hiring me on or something... or is just bored and wants to chitchat. I can't tell. Either way though, I appear to have the time.
Kyle and I had our one year anniversary. He brought me roses and I gave him a hat. We spent some gift certificates at Stanford's for dinner and went home and played Castle Crashers. It was an ideal evening for a lovely occasion. Every day Im reminded what a stellar human he is and find myself thankful.
He just turned 29, so a group of folks met us for dinner at Stanich's - - which had more a limited menu than I remembered, somehow - - but kyle was overwhelmingly pleased to be joined by so many great folks on his birthday, which usually goes un-celebrated. Afterwards we went to the Spare Room, and then to our friend's Jeff and Jody's house for more socializing. I was pooped as hell though and had to cut it short at 2am. oof. For his birthday I got him a beer-making setup and recipe kit for a hoppy IPA. Buying that boy gifts is fun as hell. He hops and squeels like a big hairy schoolgirl.
My good friend Rachael returned from Russia, and we've been connecting more since she came back. She seems to have a renewed outlook on life, and has just moved around the corner from my place. We joined a group for karaoke on Friday and had a freaking awesome time. No smoking in bars FTW. I like to choose when I inhale smoke, thank you very much.
Anyways. That's the update for now. Its freakishly cold outside but the sun is delicious.
