When I first heard of Florence & The Machine way back in the summer of 2007
I wouldn't have ever imagined myself to be sitting in sweaty jammies a year later,
sipping a mornings latte in my friends front lounge watching Ireland A.M as glamour models strutted around within bridal wear to her soundtrack - but it happened.
And from that moment on I took an immediate interest.
From the 2009 spring launch of 'Lungs' with its innovative tracks such as
'Kiss With A Fist' and 'Rabbit Heart' Florence + The Machines' debut album
though fresh and new also carry elements of surprise as the closing track is none other then a cover version of The Source & Candi Staton classic 'You've Got The Love'.
To some the melody seems out of place and unnecessary.
Only with successful television spots from the lady herself explaining the inclusion as a sorta personal salvation, and a european tour circuit now under their belts with extended versions of the song, it has become understood and praised by fans and critics a like.
Earlier this week the official video came on line
And in true Florence fashion it is simplistic by nature..
layered with style, artistic homage and in gags.. surpassing contemporaries again.
