So my vacation was interesting…
Flew to Iowa so we could go through my Grandpa’s house and get it ready to sell. I thankfully had missed my greedy aunt and cousin by a day. Evidently they took everything, including sneaking stuff out of the house while no one was looking. I realize every family has that greedy part of it but it was very disappointing. They took grandma’s wedding rings and wanted anything anyone else wanted. If you wanted it then so did they, if you didn’t want it then they didn’t want it. It was just sad. Anyway, I had a lot of fun hanging out with my family. We did a lot of work on the house and filled 3 very large dumpsters! We also painted the whole inside of the house. I was getting paint out of my hair for 4 days! It was also really nice to eat home cooked meals 3 times a day!
I got some really cool stuff that the aunt and cousin left behind (probably because they were dirty). I got a rad old wooden radio, a bunch of records, a bunch of Grandpa’s ties and some other really cool stuff. They had tried to take the rocking chair that had been saved for me but my mom wouldn’t let them. It turns out that the chair had been my great grandma’s and is still in really good condition. Yeah me!
Anyway, Thursday I flew to Colorado for Ryan’s wedding and had a very bust weekend. He picked me up at the airport with 2 of his friends and a Jeep Wrangler…It was really funny to watch the guys try to get the back seat to stay in and to get all my luggage in the ”trunk.” They took me to Truc’s (who took really good care of me and entertained me all weekend) and then went to the wedding rehearsal. Truc and I went to a Thai restaurant, then for ice cream and then for a walk in Washington Park (which was a really cool park). Met up with the guys after and went to a dive bar and played darts. It was fun and I hit 6 bull’s-eyes in one game, 2 of which were double bull’s-eyes!
On Friday, Truc and I went to lunch, ran some errands and then went to Golden, CO to go on the Coors Brewery Tour. It was really interesting and they give you a lot of free beer. Then we realized we were running a little late and had to haul ass to his house to get ready for the wedding. We made it to the wedding on time and it thankfully didn’t rain. I was really glad Truc came because the only people I knew at the wedding were in the bridal party so they were a little busy. I met Devon’s mom and sister. They were really nice and really funny. I’m sure Devon would love to know that they were telling me all sorts of stories about him :o) After the wedding, Truc took me downtown and showed me around.
On Saturday, we went to breakfast at the Bump and Grind, where you are served by drag queens. It was hilarious and a lot of fun. Then we ran some errands, went to the mall, then to Washington Park again. One of Truc’s friends called saying she had 4 tickets to the Rockies game that night that she couldn’t use. So we got free tickets in the 5th row on the third baseline. I’ve never been that close. It was cool. We went to a BBQ before the game and went to a place that has live jazz after the game. The bar we were at has been around for a really long time and BB King and Louie Armstrong have played there. It was really cool. Then we went back to his friends’ house and hung out.
Sunday, I had to get up at 6am to fly home. The airport was packed so I was glad I got there early. On my way to baggage claim in SD my sis called and it turned out she was in SD at the airport too. Weird! Anyway, Jen picked me up with the beach cruisers already strapped on the car and we drove straight to PB. I changed in the car, we met up with Matt and rode our bikes around PB. We laid out on the grass at the bay and read, then rode around more and then had lunch at Lotsa Pasta. After a few hours in PB we went to Matt’s and went in his hot tub. I got home sometime around 6ish. I was so tired and knew I should go to bed but I unpacked, put pictures on myspace and did laundry. I had a hard time getting up and going to work Monday morning :o)
I wish my vacation had been longer. I wish even more that I didn’t “have” to work. I really want to do some more traveling (mostly Europe) Ahhhh it sucks to be dependent on money!
