Stupid bloody ebay...

So, I homeschool. And I've got curricula that I don't use, am never going to use, taking up space. I USED to sell it on ebay, but now they've stuck it to the homeschooling community by making it against policy to sell teacher's editions, which are, of course, the most expensive part of the curriculum. It's bad enough that a lot of publishers won't sell to homeschoolers directly anyway, and we have to go through all kinds of resellers, etc. NOW ebay has stuck another arrow in our sides and made it even more difficult to get the resources we need to give our kids the kind of education the school system says it provides - and doesn't.

I spent years in the classroom as a teacher, fighting the administrative B.S. so that I could actually educate the kids I was given. It was a loosing battle, and I swore my own children would receive the best education it was humanly possible to give them - at home. Brianna, who is 10, scores consistently in 11th and 12th grade, and beyond, on testing yearly, and my Rhiannon is reading, doing math, and has a vocabulary that is downright scary it's so large. Homeschooling works.

Now, though, I've got some super books that some other homeschooling family could really get the use of, and no way to sell them. That sucks.

If you have to be 18 to register and buy/sell on ebay, why is selling middle school teacher's editions a problem? Do they (the dunderheads at ewbay) really think some middle school kid is going to come up with $35 and a willing adult to purchase a teacher's edition for a book that ISN'T used in their school (copyright 1999 - most schools have updated now), so they MIGHT get the answers to a few literature questions???

It's just plain stupid, and more than a little aggravating.

There's my rant for the day. I'm going to go make some chai and put my feet up.
