Gotta love the holidays

This week has been mad. I’ve been staving off a migraine since Monday afternoon. So far, I’ve kept it to a low grade, if persistent, dull background pain. Unfortunately that requires more sleep than is convenient. Meanwhile, Christmas waits not. Shopping was necessary for myself, and the kids. The cars both got stuck in the snow fairly solidly after the last storm. Each took over an hour to dig out. At work my job seems to have limits that expand and contract based on the whims of those above me. I’m also covering for whomever happens to be out on any given night (amazing how people seem to get suddenly ill the week before Christmas). All the while I’m training to cover someone else for a couple of days next week. The training is supposed to be high priority, but I keep being told to cover two or three other positions while training. It seems as though I might be the only supervisor trusted to take on more than one job at a time. That ought to make things interesting when I take vacation this year. Today, brings gift wrapping, rearranging the house and decorating. Hopefully, I can catch some sleep at some point in there. Saturday, I might be able to breathe a bit before we launch into the holiday week. I know some people have left messages. I’ve been avoiding the phone as the sound of a voice from the receiver tends to make the migraines worse. I’ll get to them in the next day or two when I have the option of lying in a dark room if things build too much. I apologize for any inconvenience or annoyance all this has caused anyone. ‘Tis the season after all, and we vampires are not at our best. The holidays are rough for many. They are brutal for a night shifter with many obligations.
