[There's a new face in the Keep, but he isn't planning on staying around for long. He'll be heading over the wall and to his (unknowing) death shortly, but he has to find his way over there first, which without certain powers is proving somewhat harder than had thought

Smashing the damn things is a really good way to go about shutting them up.
[There's a brief pause.]
Works to relieve tension, too.

Ahh, really? I had been wondering about that. They are pretty annoying, I haven't heard wailing like this since the last time Uvo insisted on karaoke.
[A laugh. The stress seems to disappear completely from his body language with unnatural ease. Only someone who had known him for years would notice the traces that remained--way his thumb hovered over the important buttons on his phone, or the slightly thinner-than-usual laugh that he saved especially for tense situations. Nope! You definitely took a load off his mind telling him about the pumpkins, yep!]

His comment gets an almost smile.]
Least you've heard of karaoke. There's people here who don't even know what a damn car is.
[With that settled, thinking him calmed down about the fucking pumpkins, Ryn nods towards his phone.]
Have you got yours to work here, then? Mine's been bloody useless for anything more a paperweight since I got here.

Really? Are we in NGL or something?
[Of course they aren't. If they were, Shal wouldn't still have his phone. Or his clothes. Or basically anything on him, and he'd be stuck in itchy, dull coloured wool clothes to conform to their laws about 'unnatural' materials. The question's real point is to find out if the woman knows where they really are. ...someone didn't read the note from Lord Deior. Whoops.
He glances at his phone at the question.]
Well, it still turns on, at least. [Of course it did. It ran on his own power.] So that's a good sign, right? Though I haven't tried calling anyone yet.
[Or controlling anybody. He should probably test that before he came across a threat.]

The hell is NGL?
[Which is a no, but she figures he's smart enough to figure that out without her actually saying it.]
Mine turns on, too, but it doesn't connect to anything. Pretty sure there's nothing here for it to connect to.
[Fucking castle.]
You're in Holloway's Keep. Shit, did you just get here?

[It's also an extremely elaborate drug front. A whole country, just to produce drugs in secret.
Shal looks bashful. You hit the nail on the head, Ryn.]
Haha, is it that obvious?

[She gives a bit of a chuckle at that.]
Not at first. But asking where we were was a bit of a give away.

[Even if he wasn't planning on staying, it would be useful to gather a bit of information to prevent from something similar from reoccuring.]

[Fucking staff.]
And by all means, ask away. Can't guarantee I've an answer for any of it, but what I do know I'm more than willing to share.

[Never heard of him. Shal'd have to look him up on the Hunter site when he had access to a computer again. They were bound to have information on him, but it could never hurt to get more, right?]
What about his motives? Do we know anything about those? I can only assume he's put up defenses to keep us here, too, so if you know anything about that it would be nice to know before I encounter them by accident.
[You're smart enough to read between the lines, Ryn. That means he's trying to escape. You can try to stop him if you want, but there's nothing you can say that will make him listen.]
