Manners do still matter
Everybody knows that manners are important, and phone manners lately have been especially important in my house. Use this as a word of Warning if you call here, because it could happen to you!
Okay, Dianna left to go hang out with Jesse today, and shortly after she left, some dumb boy called here to talk to her. We (my mom and I) are really tired to being Dianna’s permanent answering service for all the stupid idiots who call simply because they think she is a hottie, or whatever, and they all have such horrible phone manners. “Is Dianna there?” (add in the male voice in your head), they never identify themselves, or ask nicely, it really get annoying, especially when you get 3-7 calls every time she leaves the house for and hour (okay, I am exaggerating, but you get where I am going, its really annoying!) So, my mom came up with a solution: answer the question and hang up. We hadn’t actually tried it before tonight, when I was sick of playing answering machine, and hung up on the guy, after saying no to the only thing he said (Is Dianna there?). He called back, thinking we had been disconnected, and my mom answered. She explained our new policy to him, and he tried to tell her off for being rude, at which point he was hung up on again. He called back right after that, but we didn’t answer the phone, and he didn’t leave a message. (We also think he called a fourth time, playing some kind of rap music on the answering machine, but the machine did not make a message.)
Take this as a warning, any of you who call: identify yourself and ask nicely, especially if you are male and asking for Di. If you ask for me, you are usually saved from being hung up on, and females are safer when calling for Dianna. But be warned, you still might get a lecture on proper phone manners.
