Well, I know that none of you will really know what I am going to talk about, so if you dont want to be confused, skip some. Background: we here have this very evil game, called The Settlers of Catan. I need this game. It is a strategy game, where you have to get resources by building on the resource spaces (wood, brick, sheep, ore, wheat), making settlements and cities, and developing cards. The board has a different layout every time, and a normal game is played to 10 pts. Cities are 2 pts, settlements 1, longest road 2, and so on. Three of us, me and the two best players of us, Bryan and Alex, decided to play, since everyone else went home for the long weekend. I have only won once, and never against either of them, and they win most of the time. We decided to play to 12 pts, which is a lot harder. I spent the whole game with no sheep and no wood, meaning I could not build a ship or a settlement without trading in cards somewhere. However, on one of the wheats was the wheat port, where you can trade in 2 wheat for any other 1 card. I was the first person to get to 11 pts, and then got stalled because you only have a limited number of cities, and I had used all mine, and all I could get was wheat and ore, which you cant build anything with really except cities. Bryan stole my longest road, and won with 12 pts, but I still had ten. I would have won if we hadnt decided to play to 12, and even though I lost, I am really proud of myself, cause I suck at strategy games, and doing so well against both of them I am really happy, and wanted to tell someone, but no one here doesnt know, so I have to wait a bit.
Life is kind of stressful right now. I have to finish so much this weekend, I had to run all over the city today to mail things and get checks and sign up for a test I dont want to take. I have a huge list of homework, including but not limited to: 4 blind countour sketches, tons of reading, 2 short papers, and so on. On a good note, I am currently enjoying my art class, and thank you to all the reasuring people, you are all wonderful friends. The stuff I liked: copying "The Scream" in oil pastels, and this awesome project, where we shaved graphite pencils, colored white paper all over with it, and then erased pictures to copy black and white photographs. I think I did really well. Still not big on the whole contour drawing, but happy anyway. Life is okay, I guess. If I had realized a month or two ago that my application to the teacher credential program would be due next week, I would be done by now, but as it is, I still have several things to finish before the first
And a funny story to make everyone smile: Monday, Steve came over to show me his class ring and so we could spend some time together. He had a little trouble taking the ring off to show me, and he stayed for a while, and I sent him home at 10pm. 1030, he IM's me, saying he cant get the ring off (he slipped it back on when he left). I suggest cold water. Then soap. Then petroleum jelly, which he had to drive off campus to buy. At 11, Amy and I go over to help him get it off. His finger by this time is swelled up so much there is no way to slip it off, and slowly changing color. So, Amy was kind enough to drive Steve and I to the emergency room in Long Beach, where they could cut the ring off. Amy by this time had spent over 10 hours already in a hospital this day(her brother had surgery on his spine because of scoliosis), been up since before 6, and was really tired. I get to go in the emergency room with him to watch them cut it off. Usually, they only need to make one slit, but his huge, heavy jostens ring took four cuts before they managed to get it off. Poor Amy spent 15 hours of her 20 hour day in a hospital, and we fell into bed at 2am, and managed to sleep through our 8am class the next day. I still had to get up for a 9:30 presentation, but Steve still owes Amy for all the favors. I was really mad at the time, but I was way too tired to act on it, and now stuff is better. Sleep is great. I need to be smart enough to get sleep this weekend, and finish this homework...Later all
