Alone at work

I've been reading some of my friends' blogs today and I've realized not only how smart they are, but how observant and insightful they are. It makes me feel incredibly ungrateful and unobservant. I've been so wrapped up in what's going on in my life that I've neglected to look at the lives of those around me. I don't really appreciate the beauty ( Read more... )

I feel that way when I read Ellen's blog all the time :) But I think it's probably because I am self-centered ;)

Dude, it was Ellen's blog I was reading! (Ellen, I'm sure you're reading this.) She has such a way with words and I feel like, in comparison, my life is full of nothing important. Then I thought, perhaps it's because she's living in a foreign country. But my life wasn't like that when I was in Germany!

And I like to think I'm not self-centered. But perhaps I am and should just accept it. ;)

Oh, I know - that's why I said that ;)

I don't think you're self-centered. I was just commenting that I am :)

Neither of you are self-centered. You're both compassionate, thoughtful people, and I've always appreciated that about you. Don't be so hard on yourselves, please. Those are my friends you're talking about.

Wow. What a huge compliment. Thanks to both of you! I often think my blog is kind of boring. Sometimes I wonder why people other than my parents read it! To be sure, there are plenty of days when I fail to recognize the beauty around me--in the mountains, the flowers, the children's faces. It's so easy to get caught up in the ho-hum, and more so the negativity, of daily life. Sometimes something catches my attention, and I think, "Why didn't I notice this before now?"

Your blog isn't boring. (See post below.)

And perhaps it's because there are days we don't see the beauty around us that make us appreciate it all the more when we do see it. Hmm, something I just thought of.
