I agree with you Di, I don't want his to waste one bit of his beautiful life. I hate alcohol and I think it's stupid to take anything into your body that messes with your mind in a way that you can't think straight, it's why so many people are killed every year from drunk driving. Plus how can anyone knowingly drink or take anything that you know will eventually kill you? I mean it's like smoking, you know you'll get lung cancer eventually so why on earth would you smoke. I mean, I think I remember hearing somewhere that Morrissey thinks smoking is an awful thing...so what makes drinking so different?
I was really disappointed after I went to a show where he was obviously slightly drunk...I was thinking, man I waited all day in line to see my musical hero and for what? To see him stumble around on stage and forget the lyrics to his own songs? I didn't listen to Morrissey's music for a while after that just cause, I was thinking that he had no respect for his fans to come out on stage completely trashed. I paid good money and wasted a whole day waiting in line to see a drunk Morrissey. *sigh* But tis over now and I hope that I never have to witness that again. Plus my birthday gig made up for it about 100 times :)
But as for your rant Di, completely and underly agree with every word you said. And now I've added my little rant to yours...so there.

He can't possibly think of us as people who will like seeing him drunk. We're not that type, we follow HIM instead of any crashing bore, and he's starting to act like one. I'm so afraid. One thing is not being able to figure him out, that's always added up to my love for him, and one thing is allowing the man to wear leather shoes because he says so. And accepting his bare ass revealed after years of low trousers...(and now I'm off for a ride), but the plain, stupid drinking that, like you say, is no different than smoking except in a bad way: alcohol makes you act horrible whereas smoking kills you silently.

I really do think that maybe he had a bad night, and really that is NO EXCUSE for drinking and then trying to put on a concert. He was super emotional and there were numerous points on stage where he stopped singing because he was crying, yeah I saw tears. Maybe that was all a show that he put on to cover up him forgetting his own lyrics (which he did openly admit) but that was ONE part of the show that I actually enjoyed. I love how emotional he is when he sings, it hits me right in the heart. Now I'm off topic, but where I was headed with that was...if you look back into his past, he really never was a happy person. I'm sure that led into the drinking and still like I said before it is no excuse. But now doesn't he say he's happy with his life for the first time...so why continue to drink...if you are so happy with your life, please don't waste the rest of it!

I like it when he gets emotional, like singing Please please....., that's lovely.
Maybe, just maybe, he started drinking and the illusion of being happier made him say so. It's the first time I wish he was in love. I love him. I wouldn't let him drink a lot, though it costed me his company.
