huh...Now that I am back from my truely busy unemployed schedule...just kiddin. Dude I am the busiest unemployed person I know... there is never enough time for me. I always am on the go for something or someone else. Anyway...
Tips:
1. Totally trust your intuition as far as managers go...look past the title and see if this is the kind of person you can respect and work enthusatically for...If you don't like them you won't respect them and if you don't respect them you won't give anything 100% and that will hurt you in the long run.
2. Decide the form of payment that will best suit your situation: commission, hourly, booth rental.
Commission can range from 50-70% of whatever business you bring into the salon. This while leave you in totally control of how much money you make based on how much networking and promotion you do.
When I started out I skipped over assisting but took and hourly wage at the Sears salon. Its kinda like assisting but you get no respect if you start out in those kinds of salons... they take advantage. You don't even really learn anything...I suggest if your nervous about working on people you go assist at a high volume salon where you learn learn a lot with a set rate to rely on. It will pay off in the end. $5.50 to $6.25 plus tipsis not bad a couple days of the week. Even though I was fired from Lifetime I would still recommend going there to fill out an apt. I learned a ton from Izabel...color genius...
Hope to see soon hon Memis
