[Writing] Project list tiems?

Jul 01, 2009 13:02

I have decided not to do
julnowrimo this year, for two real reasons. One is that I never jump in to anything like this at first. I knew about NaNo for something like three or four years before I finally decided to participate.

--Holy crap, random realiziation about why first person PoV worked so well for The Hakkan.--

Anyways, yeah, so, the other reason would be that now I'm finally winding down with Brother's Blood, it's The Hakkan that's calling to me for attention. I wrote it in November, and barely looked at it again since, except for a day last week when I had nothing else to do, so I read practically the whole thing over. It's good, but needs serious work to make it presentable. And I like it a lot, I really like how the story flowed, where it went, and how Joshua's journey ended. It was completely off from what I'd planned and expected, but I like it so much better. So I want this to be presentable, to find a market and readership.

Whereas, the Savage Beast stories continue to plague me as anything set in Elatae does. They're okay, but they're not good. They say what I want them to say, but the language is bland. There's absolutely nothing special about them.

Anyways, so, new project list:

1) Finish Brother's Blood once and for-freaking-all. Let
chrisbrad have a go at this beta reader thing with both stories.

2) Edit The Hakkan! Really looking forward to this. Not sure how to go about editing an already finished manuscript/first draft thing. This is the first time I've ever done it, so this should be interesting.

3) Probably at the same time, edit and polish Savage Beast: Brother's Keeper, as well as Brother's Blood once and for-freaking-all, and submit.

4) Mebbe work on a few more of Kiernan's backstory stories, like Niamh's Tears (with new, less spoilery title, yes?).

5) Mostly work on the vampire thing. Russia? Amber Room? Y/N? I think yes. Short story for a call I saw on
erotic_authors that looks perfect not only for me, but for this particular story idea. Now, to see if mebbe I can work at something faster than a freaking snail's pace. Also, if short story goes well, there's potential for this one to be something longer (isn't there always?).

6) About this time, it'll be time for NaNo, in which TTTWNSW gets another shot at being something cohesive. Not to mention comprehensible.

that thing that will not stay written, savage beast: brother's blood, writing, savage beast: brother's keeper, elatae, project list
