This post is for people who read and continue to follow my anime fics, "Mended Wing" and "Ames Qui Dorment." I am about to announce on FF.net, where these two fics are hosted, that I have to give up on them. :( I'm going to offer them a link to this post.
Here are the summaries of what I intended, how I planned for them to end, and information I planned to reveal.
Mended Wing
To be quite honest, I don't know where this one was headed, which was part of the problem. I've never been much of a planner when it comes to my writing, and ten years ago I was even worse.
So I don't really know how this one would have ended. I can guess, though, based on what I know or remember.
I do know that Mamoru's death resonates with a tragedy in Hecate's own life, a lover she was forbidden to have, whose death she found out about during her self-imposed exile on Mars (I knew a lot about Hecate's origins and past; at one time, I'd planned to write it as an epic series of stories, as one of those "origins of the Silver Millennium" fics that were so popular back in those days.) Hecate and Usagi, at the point where I've left off, have truly merged into one being, who can't tell the difference between what is Hecate and what is Usagi.
There were some ideas about Hecate's power informing Sailormoon's magic, and this Usagi-Hecate transforming into a Senshi called something like Sailordarkmoon, who is more like a vengeful dark goddess than anything else, and this goddess heads to the future to face the one who orchestrated all of this.
The man who leads the ruling family in the altered AC timeline is no one recognizable. He is an aspect of Chaos. I wasn't very clear on this idea when it first came to me, because back then I hadn't seen the entire anime, nor read the manga. I was working from summaries and translations from various fansites. So I wasn't entirely sure how Chaos actually worked in Takeuchi's original work, but I figured if I called it "Chaos" I could pretty much get away with anything.
Oh, and this guy is the one who locked Setsuna away, knowing she had the power to stop him.
Basically, I don't know any details at all of the final battle, how Chaos is defeated, or what the cost of that defeat might be. But I do know that, of course, Usagi-Hecate does defeat the Chaos-dude, returns to her own time, somehow Hecate is separated from her, and it's time for the pilots to return to the future. But Duo refuses. His argument is that his influence on the future is, in their personal timelines, in the past, and he's needed more in Usagi's time.
Setsuna is suddenly, inexplicably, cured of her madness.
So the other four return to their own time, and tahdah, there's Duo waiting for them (of course). He fills them in: gradually, as Usagi healed from the battle and losing Mamoru, she began to return Duo's love, and eventually married him, and her love and power and the Silver Crystal made him immortal the way she and the other Senshi are, and the way Mamoru would have been had he lived to become Neo King Endymion. (And the future inevitability of this was what restored Setsuna's sanity.) So instead of Endymion, you've got Neo King Duo (LOL), and Chibiusa is blonde with violet eyes.
THE END.
Some of you might remember that at one point, I mentioned this being a trilogy.
Yes, I had planned for this to be a trilogy. The third and final story would have revolved around Setsuna, her role as Sailorpluto, and the myriad number of rules she broke in the first two stories. Father Time would have been involved, as well as some original Senshi I created in my first Sailormoon fanfic ever, "Reflections of Reality." Which I doubt anyone remembers.
And... that's basically that.
Ames Qui Dorment
Ooooh man. Where to begin? AQD is the fic I really, really wanted to finish more than anything. It's worse for me than not finishing MW, because I had a pretty good idea of where this one was going, and I always, always knew how I would end.
I hope you all can forgive me.
Let's see.
The guardian in the cave is Shippou. (Someone once guessed Hephzibah was either Shippou, or had taken over Shippou's body... sorry, no.) Kagome charged him with the guardianship of Tetsusaiga, because she trusted him. Did anyone have any doubts that Inuken was going to win Tetsusaiga?
Mineko's fight with the monsters, I honestly don't know. That wasn't planned. I do know she wasn't going to die... at least, I think she wasn't. I didn't intend for her to die, because she needed to be present for the end.
(Oh, and Mineko was really never supposed to befriend Inuken or Aya... there was a subplot that was supposed to be revealed that she is a spy of the neko youkai, and she is supposed to kill Inuken. Don't ask me why. I don't remember now why this made sense. But Mineko has, by the point in the story I left off, already decided she won't be killing anyone. She just hasn't decided how she's going to tell her father.)
Miroku and Sango escape, only to die by Miroku's Kazaana after warning Inuken and co. about the Lord. Miroku tries to spare Sango, but she willingly dies with him after realizing the truth of what he did before.
I'm pretty sure everyone by this time has figured out that the woman captive the Lord keeps is Kagome. That was never supposed to be much of a surprise.
The enemy here is a force of bodiless creatures from another dimension; they've been exiled from their world, and so plan to take over this one. Most of them are, as stated, bodiless, so they must steal and regenerate dead bodies from the world they invade. Akseh, as strongly hinted at in previous chapters, inhabits the resurrected body of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's father. Most of these creatures have inhabited the bodies of dead inu, except Hephzibah, who chose a human (I don't know why). The strongest of these creatures, Saytori, is their leader, and unlike the rest is powerful enough to create his own form once he has a DNA pattern.
He chose Inuyasha's. No, the Lord is not actually Inuyasha, it is Saytori using Inuyasha's form.
Inuyasha is the weapon, separated from Tetsusaiga and from his family, his youkai blood run wild. Saytori keeps him in a cage in his throne room, and uses Kagome (torturing and violating her in front of Inuyasha) to keep him enraged.
So. Anja.
Anja is not Saytori's daughter, and she is also not one of the invaders. Anja's real name is Inusora, and she is Inuyasha and Kagome's second child (whom Kagome was pregnant with when Inuyasha disappeared), and Inuken's little sister. Something that I insinuated but don't remember if I ever stated outright (I don't think I did) is that Anja is deaf. She can communicate with Saytori telepathically, and reads lips otherwise.
At some point, somehow, probably because of Anja/Inusora, Kagome escapes, taking Inuyasha with her, and they somehow meet up with Inuken (this was one of those things I knew I wanted to happen, but couldn't make it make sense, and would probably eventually have to give up on it actually happening). I had this beautiful image in my head for a scene: Kagome, fragile on the outside but still strong beneath, sitting under a tree, her eyes closed, with Inuyasha's head in her lap. He's still mostly wild, but he recognizes the smell of his mate. Inuken, Aya, Mineko and Shippou are watching them, and Inuyasha is watching back, his red eyes threatening; he's protecting his mate. Shippou talks to Inuken, Mineko and Aya about the strength of the love between Inuyasha and Kagome, and how it seems that even now, after everything that's been done to them, that bond is strong, and is the only thing holding either of them together.
Back to the enemy, Akseh has designs to take over Saytori's place as leader, and intends to use Toushiko's abilities to help him; I believe I left off with him becoming aware of Aya, and believing that if he had both Toushiko and Aya, he would be unstoppable. This is really the one storyline I was absolutely unsure of how it would end, and I suspect it would have simply... ended. Without a real resolution. As for Toushiko, I probably meant for Rei to find her (he's not dead) and heal her, though if I were to write the story now, I would probably have Rei find her, but have to care for her the rest of their lives because she never regains her sanity. Rei would have been an ally for Inuken and co. inside the inu youkai fortress.
Closing in on the final battle, Sesshoumaru prods Rin to leave her house in the woods.
I planned for one huge near-apocalyptic battle bringing everyone together: Inuken, Aya, Mineko and Shippou, Sesshoumaru and Rin, a slowly-recovering Kagome and Inuyasha, the inu youkai of the community, all against the invaders.
I used to have this scene written down, but I've long ago lost the file. I don't remember who kills Saytori in the end, but I know it isn't Inuken. Actually, I think it's Inusora/Anja; I do remember that Inuken sacrifices himself to get to her and tell her the truth about who she is, and that she's his little sister.
Uh, yeah, you read that right. Inuken dies. Sorry. But I've always known he would, and that I would probably be mobbed by flames when he did. He's shot with multiple arrows as he goes to his sister.
Saytori is dead, his minions scattered, Inusora is returned to her real family. Sesshoumaru is probably returned to his body, with Rin wielding Tessaiga (recovered from Saytori) to do so... I don't remember if I was working toward a Sesshoumaru/Rin endgame or not, but if I were to do so now, I would say no, Rin was always more of a daughter to him.
The story's final end is Inuyasha finally gaining enough awareness to understand what's happened, how long he's been gone, what he's done in that time and why... and more importantly, that his son is dead. The final scene is he and Kagome talking about Inuken, and what he did for them, and for his sister, whom he'd never met. They know they have a lot to do in order to have some sort of relationship with their daughter.
(Probably not addressed head on in a scene, but communicated in some way: Aya goes home. Kagome goes with her, so Aya isn't the one who has to tell Kagome's mother what happened to her grandson.)
I had thoughts of a sequel, but I never really pinned down what it would be about, other than that Inusora would be the main character.
