[Life] Sigh.

So... anyone have any tips or advice on dealing with an older dog now having to live with two puppies, who sometimes acts fine around them, and sometimes flies into an apparently jealous rage?

Because my parents' older dog, Martie, has jumped on the puppies several times. She seems to mostly focus on the littlest one, though, Henry, and he's tiny.

Tonight, she attacked him enough to leave a couple of puncture wounds on his neck. He's yelping and crying any time anyone moves him, obviously in pain. And Martie, who has never been disciplined in her life in any way for any reason, has absolutely no idea she did anything wrong.

Also, the step-dad is saying he doesn't need to go to the vet, since the vet couldn't do anything more than clean the wounds with Martie was attacked by the coyote. Never mind that this isn't a full grown dog with several layers of muscle and, frankly, fat protecting him. Henry is a tiny puppy with weight issues anyway. Martie could have done much more damage internally to him than the coyote managed to do to her. Or, it could just be fear and pain that's making him yelp like that, but I would take him in just to be safe.

Why did he insist on getting the damn puppies if he doesn't want to do what's necessary to take care of them?

And my mom just gets worse every time something happens to one of them. If Martie ends up killing Henry, it's going to kill my mom. She can't deal with losing another dog.
