deviantART has pretty much always been this failtastic, much moreso since Jark was squished out in that hostile takeover back in '05, but at least until recently they allowed users to be "unspecified." >.<
THAT IS PORNOGRAPHY!!! ::GASP!:: MY SENSIBILITIES!
Jark was one of the original founders. I forget the details, but it might as well have been that he just showed up to work one day to be told his own company was firing him, because that's basically what went down. I remember that it actually happened over the course of several days and there were emails involved, but yeah. Spyed was the major player identified in being involved, several staff quit over it, there was a Yellow Day that a lot of users held in protest (because Jark's symbol was the Yellow Alien), and of course, nothing was done. deviantART's staff are past masters of basically ignoring everything that goes on, sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting "LALALALALALA!!!" until it all goes away.
Because that's the unfortunate part of righteous anger: it does eventually go away, the protesters either leave in frustration or settle down, and things go back to normal.
