[Fandom] More on the Elder Wand

Oct 19, 2010 08:53

Okay, this just occurred to me as I woke up this morning. But why it didn't occur to me earlier I do not know.

So, after Voldie's dead, right, Harry takes Ron and Hermione to the Headmaster's (or Headmistress', I guess, since McGonagall takes over) office. There, he consults with Dumbledore's portrait over the fates of all the Hallows, including the Elder Wand. And he asks Dumbledore that if he puts the Wand back in Dumbledore's grave and then dies a natural death, then will the Wand's power be broken? Dumbledore says yes.

But at this point, Harry's already proven that the master of the Elder Wand can change if someone Disarms them while wielding another wand. It's the entire point around which the death of Voldemort hinges. Draco was not in possession of the Elder Wand when Harry Disarmed him, in fact he never knew he was its master. But Harry became the Elder Wand's master simply by Disarming Draco of his hawthorn wand.

So basically, dying a natural death isn't going to do it.

Harry will have to live out his life without ever being Disarmed of his holly wand even once.

And considering he's an Auror, well, that seems very unlikely. He probably gets Disarmed a million times in training alone. Not to mention dueling against Dark wizards and would-be Dark Lords. It's pretty impossible that he spends his entire life without being Disarmed. I mean, unless he makes sure to go back and Disarm every person who ever Disarms him in order to win the Elder Wand's allegiance back. Which would get confusing after a time, I imagine.

Basically, this whole Elder Wand thing still makes no sense.
