I AM BACK. WHOOOO!
So, I have two computers in my room. Old Computer and New Computer. Old Computer is my play computer, which I use to get online and chat and goof around and it's got all my music and fanfiction and a lot of older writing because I've had it for what amounts to forever in computer years. New Computer was bought with school in mind for the purposes of putting Dreamweaver and Flash and Photoshop and all the programs I'd need for school on it, but I also decided to use it as my primary writing computer for original writing.
So, New Computer had a hiccup. The monitor couldn't get an signal from the CPU. I knew it wasn't the monitor because I switched out monitors with another computer (we have six total computers in the house, two of which are laptops), and the monitor worked fine with another computer, but the Other Monitor wouldn't work at all with NC. So, thinking it was the graphics card, today I took the CPU up to Best Buy, where we bought it and have a warranty.
Of course, it worked fine on ALL THREE monitors they connected it to at the store. So, I bought a new cable, because the consensus was that it must be the cable. And lo, it was, because now it works fine.
Point of the story being that until today, I wasn't able to write more on TTTWNSW because I couldn't access the file on NC.
I've written more than 1,000 words so far today, which according to the schedule is the minimum. So I can stop now, and I will for the moment, but later I may try to write more in an effort to catch up for the week and a half I didn't write.
So, anyway. More of Najwa, Baqer and Shemzai. Shemzai and Najwa's dynamic is a little different, but mostly because I'm writing a little less formally, which is reflected in the characters. I don't know yet if that's a good or a bad thing. Well, in one way it's definitely good, because it means I've actually managed to insert some humor into the damn thing, and give my characters a little bit of humor. Except Shemzai. Which is the reason their dynamic is different. Najwa has a sense of humor, Shemzai doesn't, and while they've been friends since they were kiddies, it's causing stress now. Which works for the story so well. Yay!
Najwa and Baqer have a nice dynamic going on, too.
This all goes into something I talked about in a previous post, with believable character dynamics. I'm going to continue with the idea that Najwa is basically isolated by her position as queen, with very few close relationships. Baqer and Shemzai are basically it for her, though Jarrad and Ikram both care about her and would like a closer relationship with her. Jarrad comes close, at the point the story starts, she's unconsciously debating the pros and cons of doing so, but Baqer and Shemzai have been there since she was a small girl (and haven't beaten her black and blue almost every day... but Jarrad's general in the army and her weapons trainer! So it's his job, and he does it with love. XD).
I introduced in this little section the idea that Shemzai has friends outside the palace and his relationships with his grandfather and the queen, friends that have influenced his ideas and beliefs. I already have ideas for where to further take this with established characters, so I'm excited. :)
Now, to clean my room a little, then tag in the RPG, and then to work on some fanfiction. Then maybe more of TTTWNSW.
