Hooray for feedback! The steampunk/fantasy short story doesn't completely suck! It has a few issues, but they should be easily correctable. The twist at the ending was too much of a twist. It's a case where I provide hints, but not enough hints. That's hard to gauge. I didn't want to give away the ending on a silver platter, but at the same time the clues were so loose that the ending came across like a separate story. Whoops.
We must achieve balance in the Force.
A flash fic I wrote this past week also turned out well, and I may try and submit that one soon.
I started a new Chicken Soup essay, today, too. The deadline isn't till the end of May, but I hope to submit it within a few weeks.
There is one thing I really like about essay markets: I know exactly what topic to write on and where to send it. I keep writing all these little short stories and I can't seem to find a good fit for a submission. I spent hours going through Duotrope the other day.
