Long time no update. Of course. This is very typical of me. Oh, well. Since my last update:
No more regularly scheduled trips to PA. Yes, the wedding is already over, all said and done, and I'll be posting pictures as soon as I have them on digital. It shouldn't take long, really, and I should have them by time I make my next (yes, it's scheduled) update. The wedding was beyond beautiful. Yes, it's my wedding and I'm supposed to say that, but I think it's true. For those of you on my MySpace and Facebook lists, I'm sure you've already seen pictures. More are on the way, as stated above.
This weekend we're heading off to Dragon*Con. My first ever convention. Yes, I'm excited. Heck, I'll use almost any excuse to get away from work. Hopefully all goes well. I'm trying to see if I can get down there on just my carry-on. We'll have to see. And I'll be sure to post pictures from there. There should be some good ones.
As my most recent post suggests, I finally got rid of the Demon Blazer (tm). It was going to blow up. I'm not lying. The transmission was on its last legs, and I have no doubt I'd have been without a vehicle before winter had I not done something about it. So John took me shopping and I ended up with an '08 Hyundai Elantra. Not too bad, really. Not my first car of choice, but much more practical and I'm loving it already.
This holiday season is going to be a blast. There will be Halloween parties, and then the bestest best person ever (Jen) is going to come visit! Then we're driving down to PA for Thanksgiving, flying to Ohio the following week for a late Thanksgiving... and then I'm done. Even if John ends up going to PA to be with his family (he wasn't going to, but he does bring up valid reasons for him to still go) I'm going to stay firmly planted on Vermont soil. I don't like to think of it as me being alone. Holly is around and besides... someone has to be with the kitty on the big day. She loves Christmas. Good thing she can feel in kitty heaven with a large can of peas and or green beans. Cheap shopping is always fun.
Work is... well, it's in ways better than Alliance Imaging, but in other ways far worse. The work load itself and the hours are way more reasonable, even if I would love to be making that overtime wage right about now. The environment is harsh, though. I'm not kidding. I'm going to the doctors over this stuff. At first they were worried that I was suffering some neurological issues and the like, but they've pretty much narrowed it down to stress. From work. Funny how it went away whenever I was out for a while, then slowly started back again. I'm going to try and combat it the best ways I can, such as a better diet (making food instead of eating out all of the time) and exercise (John and I are possibly getting a gym membership). I even went and got the glasses that I knew that I needed. In the end, the best thing would be to find a new job, but I don't really want to. Especially if John does find a job that he wants in California. Then I'd just be having to start yet another new job. To me, I just like having the constant pay, paid holidays and seniority status. I don't care about time off so much as I rarely use it (outside of all that I used for the wedding, of course).
I also got a new cell phone and I love it. Now I can get my email and my chats (if I ever actually load them on the thing) straight to my phone. Good for being away. Bad for being at work. Oh, well. It's still fun. XD
I've had a lot of people asking me how married life is. John and I lived together for over a year before we were married, so there's no life altering changes coming about (other than the fact that I have to get used to signing a new last name). Surprisingly enough, though, I would say that there really is a change. For the better. I don't know what it is, or maybe it's just a combination of things. John quit EQ, my online time has been cut way down due to being busy, and we just spend time together. I love it.
Now all we need is another kitty... ;)
