Fort Smith and Music, Spring Break Part One

On the weekend of March 10th, Wizard Boots headed to Fort Smith, Arkansas to play a show that weekend and to visit Chris's relatives. We had a good weekend, checking out flea markets and antique shops, eating at a nice Italian restaurant, and having Chris's mother's wonderful breakfast. The show turned out a little bit different than expected. Chris hasn't played in Fort Smith in 11 years but we ended up being pushed to the last band of the night and even rushed through our set. During that night there was a huge rain storm as well as a bad car wreck right outside the club. After waiting around from 7pm to midnight listening to one band after another, we decided to hang out at the Red Rooster and cut loose a bit. fun times. The drive back was nice and we stopped at the Peanut Shoppe in Oklahoma to run around and take pictures. Alright, quick summary, enjoy the photographs.

there were horrible grass fires on the way up. We were dangerously close to this one.

My driver.

Dressing up to go out with Chris's mom. We wanted to look nice.

We visited this awesome antique place called Now & Then that Chris's aunt works at. It's two old old houses connected together and filled to the brim with antiques and such. Very cool place. I got some Burts Bees lipstick and Chris's mom, Mary, bought me this magnifying glass I'd been eyeing the entire time. So sweet!

Chris goofing off for the camera, as per usual.

Mary and Chris.

Afflack!!!!

My alien dahling.

Chris posing at the famous Sally Anns.

as well as me.

There's nothing like taking a picture of a black field.

This is a semi-decent picture of downtown Fort Smith (St Patrick's Day decor).

So so scary.

After a good dinner and some booze, we headed to the show. First up was Black Tape.

Black Tape thinks he is from another planet. He always had bloody stuffed animals and sings about murdering people and foreign galaxies. Very entertaining.

I got a bloody satanic teddy bear.

Woaaa, crazy. This picture is called IMG 0911. Anyways, as soon as Black Tape finished playing, we heard this huge crash outside the venue. A cop car had run right into another at high speeds. No one was hurt but it looks really scary. We thought maybe Black Tape had caused it with his powers.

I didn't get any pictures from later that night when we played and then hung out with Rob at the Red Rooster. Fun times regardless. We got in around 3:00am and I fell right to sleep.

This is the next morning, saying goodbye to Chris's dad.

Before we left we went to Mary's house to have some brunch. She had cooked 3 dozen eggs and had some homemade sausage and cinnimon rolls and I pigged out. Then we left for the DFW again.

Chris felt the need to stop and play on the side of the highway.

He likes that 69!

and I look like a beaver.

Next time we come to Fort Smith we're going to play at the Peanut Shoppe. Such an awesome place. This is a big sign but it looks like a stadium.

Sorry... I can't look as cool as Chris.

I like nuts of all sizes. Yep.

and then a beautiful sunset!

As soon as I got home I had 10 minutes to pack for the NEXT trip - New Mexico. I have all the pictures edited from that trip but I am working on the writing up our adventure. It was so amazing and we met some bizarre people. Anyways.... back to school.
and I'm so depressed. I feel like I had a chance to fly but now I'm locked in my little 'route to graduation' cage that's so boring. Fuck. Oh well, hopefully this depression will fade when I go back to the routine and forget what it's like to live again.
