Oh I love sleeping through an entire night of thunderstorms. Friday night is stormed all the way into Saturday evening. Chris and I went out and about to Irving thrift stores. He got some candles and a rotating ground disco ball. I got this huge poster of a chocolate -
My mom and dad picked us up to go see BB King at Winstar that night. He's got such a wonderful personality for 80 years old. "I'm like a diesel engine... it may take me a while to warm up but when I warm up I roar." And he did... he eased into his set by talking off and on, making 'Lucille' scream without effort. I couldn't imagine his voice being much stronger when he was younger, it was amazing... an ageless voice. He talked about all the beautiful ladies and some of his travelling and all and all it was a great experience.
Winstar was completely packed to the brim with people though. We had $10 free gambling with the purchase of our tickets but that meant finding a SINGLE slot machine. With so many people crammed in this huge place, shitty jazz music spewing, and absolutely no alcoholic beverages for sale, I could not see the appeal of that place whatsoever. In fact, I agreed with Chris when he said that if there was a hell, this would be come pretty close to it. I did enjoy watching Super Troopers and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind on my mom's car DVD to and fro Dallas.
This weekend I once again rearranged my apartment. I decided to make better use of my dining area -
.
Also, Mardi Gras is coming up. I'm gonna cook some red beans and rice, buy some kings cake, and drink some beer and play pool. Oh, t'is the life....
I dropped my Finance class because I wanted to take it with a better teacher this summer - who's rated as the best finance professor at the school. I have not missed a single class this semester but for the first time in years my grade on the first test was about 5 points below the average. I cannot find any partners to work with on these huge projects she assigns (I end up doing all myself), and just can't grasp these concepts. So I pushed the "Withdraw" button on the screen.
Now I feel like a complete failure.
I had to be reassured by my mom that it's 'alright'. Yet I get this feeling deep in my stomach that I made a stupid decision.
Now I have to hear THIS from my inner-monologue -
"Now you only have 12 hours so if you fuck up in these other classes you'll have to deal with that grade."
"If you deal with that grade you will lose your scholarship and chance at any future job."
"Taking it during the summer costs $3000. You could buy a car for that much."
"Well well, you make one bad grade and you give up completely."
"What if you don't get into this professor's class this summer? It could fill up really fast. You might have just screwed yourself."
"Why why why are you taking this difficult class over the summer when you have MONTHS to learn it this semester?"
Maybe I'm making more of a big deal out of this than I should. I just want to get this 'college' business over with. I have a 3.9 right now sitting on 70 hours, making only 2 B's EVER this entire college career. I promise myself as soon as I finish this monster of an experience (college), I will be less hard on myself. I will. I will.
