10:32pm, Tuesday, February 13th, 2007: Tonight I was stuck out in the worst hailstorm I've ever been in. With Amberlyn, at Moe's. Right when we arrived there, the tornado sirens went off. My phone started to buzz. My mom freaked. I just thought we were going to get rain. Amberlyn and I were chillin', talking politics and what she's been repairing/redoing around her house and we start hearing pops on the roof. Ok, you have to realize this is not normal for Montgomery, Alabama, ok? We rarely see any form of ice/sleet/snow so we know it's bad if it's mid 50 degrees and quarter-sized balls of ice start raining down on us. It stopped for a couple of minutes and started back up, this time with golf ball sized ones. It was seriously raining hail. It didn't look like there was any rain. The pavements outside were white, the wind picked up to at least 30mph - and it was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. People started freaking out. *raises hand* I was scared. Almost to the point where I was going to sit in the bathroom until it was over. Moe's is a restaurant that has a full glass front. Even sitting towards the back in a booth wasn't making me feel very safe. Luckily, we didn't lose power, unlike a lot of other places, so after thirty more minutes we left. Amberlyn's windshield was cracked in two places and her hood had a couple of dents.
9:54pm, Wednesday, February 14th, 2007: Happy Valentine's Day to all of you faithful! I made it a point to relax to the utmost. The biggest event of my day just occurred as I fell getting up from my chair in the movie theater. How does that happen? Fall when getting up?! I could blame it on the heels... I told the lady that tried to catch me that my foot was asleep when it wasn't, just to soothe my embarrassment just the tiniest bit and allow it to seem that I am, in fact, NOT drunk. Oh! I won Fall Out Boy's latest CD by being able to shout their name faster than anyone else when hearing only a single lyric from "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race". I watched Music and Lyrics and they did that little contest before the movie started. GREAT romantic comedy. I loved it! Ten times better than Catch and Release and Because I Said So combined!
Although Chris had to work tonight, we were able to spend most of the afternoon together. He treated me to lunch at Red Robin, which by the title you would assume it's main dishes are primarily chicken - nope. Burgers. ??? I don't get that, but ok. Famous for gourmet burgers and spirits. It was delicious and laid back. Just what I wanted. Then we went to Blockbuster and rented The Departed and Snakes on a Plane, watched Dr. Phil, and exchanged gifts. We told each other to keep it small and we did. I was so proud of my
CARD (<--CLICK!) I made him. I got him the Top 10 book of everything Las Vegas so he could research where he wanted to go. So we don't wing it. He hand-wrote me a card because he claimed he couldn't find scissors, but it didn't matter. It said, "I just wanted to tell you how much I love you and how much I appreciate you. You are an awesome girlfriend and an awesome friend to have. I love how we make each other laugh over stupid things and how we make each other mad over stupid things. Thanks for being in my life and making me so happy. I love you." He accompanied it with a wall decoration of seashells that have "Live, Love, Laugh" across it. Pretty cool. It will go perfectly in my bathroom. Maybe I won't have to re-theme it after all.
Odd Thomas is calling to me.
