After a pretty sucky week, I had a great two days just now.
In the late afternoon, my father and I cycled to Thomas' house, because there's some business about a possible scholarship our family could receive because my mother works in the Netherlands, and Thomas' mother could help my father fill out some forms on the PC. I went along to play with Emily, Thomas' little sister. She is absolutely adorable. A mad-haired, wild-eyed, giggly 5 year-old ^_^
I chased after her throughout the house, until her father started shouting because we were making such a racket. Well..she was, anyway ;p
Thomas wasn't at home, the volleyball season has started again, and he had to go to practice.
In the evening, there were fireworks in the next town, and music afterward on the grounds of the scouts. I had called Pieter, 'cause it's been over a month since I last saw him, but he didn't answer his phone, so I left him a voicemail. Thomas picked me up at about half past 9, and we drove to Anneleen's house, where Vicky, Egon, Joke, Julie, Lizzy and some guys from the volleyball were sitting around/hanging out outside.
There was embarrassingly Ebil! bad music blaring through the speakers in the street, but luckily the fireworks started soon after we had arrived.
It was pretty. Much obligatory 'awww's, much stiffness of the neck.
The godawful music started up again, and because of the abundance of booze, so did the embarrassing dance-moves of some... which I shan't mention. *cough cough*Vicky*cough cough*
We had a laugh, though :)
We moved on to the tent one street further (Thomas stayed behind, he wanted to go home early), where a cover-band was playing.. 'The Vipers' Oh yeah.
They were okay. We caught the last 5 or so songs, Gaétan and Bart were there. I was glad to see them again, it had been a while. Gaétan will be going into the army! Yes! Finally! I was so thrilled when I heard the news! It has been his dream for so long, and he has tried really hard, and it paid off. He's shaving off his hair next week :)
Joke and Julie's shift started at midnight, so we went along with them to the barracks of the scouts, where a DJ was playing funky old songs. The bar and barstools are covered in leoppard-print, coloured spots and candles added to the atmosphere (and so did the booze, of course.. which there was plenty off. ^_^ )
Joke had to work, Vicky was.. 'slightly' intoxicated and so cute! She's so funny when she's 'slightly' drunk. Very affectionate ^__^ There was much love.
I had great conversations with Egon. The more I see of him, the more I like him. They make a cute couple.
And today, my mum and dad, grandmother and grandfather went to Goes, in the Netherlands. On the way there, my grandma just talked and talked and talked! When she's in a good mood, everyone will know it :)
She moves her hands around a lot and gets really animated lol.
We walked around, shopping, drinking rediculous amounts of coffee (not me.. I'm a hot chocolate kind of girl :)
and just had a really relaxed, great day.
I talked to my grandpa about the new direction I'm taking in school. He went to art school himself, for 7 years! It was hard back in the time when he was young to pay for it all. He even said he often had to walk to school (which was several miles) because he didn't have any money. But he said it was worth it, that it was the best time of his life. He went and got married, raised 12 children and now is enjoying his pension very much.
It's rare that we get to spend time with my grandparents alone, coming from such a large family. That's why we all enjoyed today so much.
I can't wait for school to start again :)
