☀ 03-009 ☀ [Say Goodbye]

May 14, 2009 19:23

[As soon as the happy cloud lifted, Ammy had started feeling a little stir crazy. When in doubt? Check it out! Although the sudden outfit change as she shoved open the door was entirely unexpected. Her outfit's still all red and white, from her red patent leather t-strap heels to her white cloche hat with the red trim and big silk opium poppy. She ( Read more... )

[Abel appears to be behind the wheel of a car, here in Chicago, and is dressed every bit the part of the driver - right down to those leather gloves.

Fortunately, however, the vehicle is not currently in motion. May it never be.]

Eh? Ammy, is that you? What's going on over there?

Ah, yes it is! Abel~! These men called police say my sons are doing something illegal. [Ammy puffs up indignantly at an officer who looks like he's about to invade her space.]

Drug trafficking? What? I don't know what you're talking about! Who do you think you're talking to? My children wouldn't have anything to do with it, do you hear me? [Ammy huffs.] No, we don't have any connection to those ruffians downtown! What do you take me for, anyway? Wasting my time and everyone else's, don't you have anything better to do? No, I'm busy. Do me a favor and go away.

[She makes a face at the portly officer's back then turns back to the sphere. She rubs her forehead and sighs.] Aiiiyah, what a nightmare. Moegami and Itegami selling opium? Absolutely ridiculous.

[Police and drug trafficking he understands immediately, but there's a not-so-minor cultural difference here that gives him pause.] But what's the matter with opium..?

Ah, nevermind! That sounds bad! Are you sure there really isn't anything sketchy going on? I mean, I wouldn't expect that any sons of yours would get into such serious trouble, but we mustn't forget that this place is a product of that ship, still!

Things here don't have to make any more sense than they did, back in those hallways.

Apparently it's illegal here. It's not something my people use much back home, but it seems as though there's a real problem with people being slobs and lazing about all day doing nothing but smoking it. [She huffs in annoyance.]

No, my boys are still good boys. [She walks up to a pair who are much taller than her, but wearing matching white suits. One seems to have short horns that poke out of his shaggy white hair, and the other has a fiery red mohawk with the rest of his hair gathered in a long ponytail at the nape of his neck.] The police don't like my family because we step in and take care of the bad people when they're too lazy to get the job done. They should be thanking us, the ingrates. [Defensive mother? Just a little. Moegami blows a long stream of smoke after taking a pull from his pipe, and Itegami simply squeezes Ammy's shoulder.]

Mm, maybe so. [He mentions the hallways and Ammy tries not to make a face. Oh, she talked more than she'd wanted to the other day.]

Huh! I saw it used in tea all the time, back in Byzantium. Not by Terrans, of course - that could be dangerous. But most Methuselah have no strong opposition to it.

[He looks impressed, and a little shocked, as a sound like a startled laugh escapes him.] It looks like everyone else is getting the hang of this a lot faster than I am.

At least all of that funny business is over. I can finally think clearly! [If there's anything to say about the minor fiasco that was the halls, Abel's certainly not going to broach the topic. He's had enough time to internalize it all.]

It is quite possible that it does not effect them the way it would a human.

[Ammy laughs a little, slipping her hat off so she can shake her hair out. her ears were starting to get squished.] I suppose it's because what I am famous for here is very similar to what I did in Nippon.

[Her ears flick forward and she glances over at the sphere.] So does this mean you'll still go on a date with me if Riku and Axel start a restaurant, or no?

[A touch surprised at that last, Abel starts, and then leans forward in his seat, crossing his arms over the steering wheel with an embarrassed sort of smile.]

I suppose so, yes. A gentleman should always keep his word.

Oh good, I was going to be rather sad if you said no. [Is...is she hiding behind her hat? Possibly. Maybe. If nobody's looking. Her ears perk and her tail waves as she almost-sort-of preens quietly. Ah-ha~, success!]

[Is looking. But will not say anything. He's too busy with his repression and embarrassment. ...And kind of miming driving the car, this is fun!]

Uh, so, has everything settled down on your side, then? I don't think I hear any more shouting.

Mm, I think I chased them off! [She grins, tugging her hat back on as her tail starts wagging in earnest.]

Ne, Abel? What's that thing you're sitting in?

Wha-- [He turns his head up, and bumps sharply into the low roof. A pause while he tries to fix his latest awkward hat.]

Ehh... Oh, you mean the automobile? I've only ever seen ones like this in Albion, before! They're not so common back home, but they appear to be everywhere in this city!

Autowhat? [Confused headtilt.] You mean it's one of those noisy things on wheels? They smell really awful if you ask me...

canniballistic May 15 2009, 07:38:29 UTC
Au-to-mo-bile! That's right! Uh, they don't smell all that bad when they aren't running, at least. But it's the quickest way from one place to another, for us. Most people can't run as fast as you do, you know!

I know~! [She seems rather pleased with that fact, actually. She so earned the title of fastest in all of Nippon.] So you mean people stopped using horses and carts and went to those?

Reply

canniballistic May 15 2009, 17:44:07 UTC
It looks that way! I haven't seen horses around here anywhere. [But he's leaning around in his seat to check again, just in case.]

celestial_okami May 15 2009, 17:47:21 UTC
How weird, horses are much less noisy. Maybe those automobiles are more efficient somehow? [She looks around, her tail wagging a bit.]

Ehh, I suppose I should get back to looking for that exit.
