[Riku's shocked. he can't stop from being shocked, seeing that happen to one of his closest friends.
his first inclination is to run down there, to help her. but his own experience with these things have proven to him that fighting them is next to impossible. he either has to get her out of there - because she'll come back, right? that's what's been happening to everyone if they... - or he could try something else.
he doesn't know if it's going to work, but he's going to try it anyway]
Ammy...
[Riku presses a fist against his chest, his head lowered, eyes closed.
[Her whine is sharp, and she glances to the pile of bodies. No, it should be dead, she'd defeated it before. The Day of Darkness was over, this shouldn't have happened... She whines again, slipping off her bed and approaching the bodies, nosing them.
They couldn't be dead, not really. Riku and Mildmay were safe, so that meant that at least two of these bodies were horrible illusions. That didn't make it hurt any less to see them this way.]
I know it hurts. What I saw...it hurt me, too. [doesn't go into detail over his own experience with nightmares. right now the only person that matters is Ammy] It's what we're afraid of. But being afraid of it doesn't mean it has to happen.
[What they're afraid of? Her ears cock forward, and she studies the bodies and the dark hand.
Afraid of the darkness winning? Of losing all the people she had come to care about and fading away? Maybe...
She nosed at another body, the clothes were tattered and half-hidden beneath the others, but his face was almost feminine in its beauty, even the bruises and blood couldn't hide that. She snuffled at his forehead, licking it before she sat back to look at him. Was death the only thing she feared? No. Death wasn't it. Was it more the idea of being incapable to stop death?
She placed her paw on the young man's shoulder, whining softly. What was it, then?]
I think you're the only person that can answer that, Ammy. All your friends have faith in you. I know I do. [he's a little awkward when he says it, because that's so not something he would normally say. but he means it] Maybe you should have a little faith in yourself.
[She considers this, bowing her head as she thinks over his words. Again the dark hand tries to strike her, but Solar Flare blocks the blow. Shifting into her human form, she brushes the man's bangs back from his face, stroking his cold cheek.]
His name is Ushiwaka, he is a prophet, and was my companion before I fell to Nippon. He fought by my side in many battles, and helped me many times on my journey. [She cracks a small smile, amused by a memory.] Even if he could be frustrating.
He played the most beautiful music on his flute. [The smile fades, and she pets his hair.] I miss him.
You'll get to see him again. [he says it with confidence. this only proves to him how much they need to get off of this ship] He's probably waiting for you. And if he knows you as well as that, he knows you're going to come home.
[offers her a small smile] That's something to look forward to, right?
Mm. [She nods, her tail wagging.] He waited a hundred years for me, a few months shouldn't be any trouble.
[She scowls up at the demon, still petting Waka's hair.] How do you stop what you fear? I am tired of this, tired of dying for no reason. I'm tired of them using the faces of my children against me, the false hopes, illusions and the lies. I defeated Yami and the Day of Darkness was stopped. This didn't happen this way, and no one's died.
I may fade into the darkness some day, when all of my followers have forgotten me or passed on to the next world, so be it. All things will come to an end some time. Even the sun itself will one day burn out and die, and then I suppose I will too, until then I will not give in to something like this! I refuse! [She bares her fangs and snarls at the demon hand, fur bristling as she summons up her ink bullets.]
[She snarls, Solar Flare blazing behind her as she lets off the volley of bullets. The demon flinches back and she launches herself at it, slashing at the exposed orb in the palm. When she lands, the demon and the bodies dissolve into cherry blossom petals that blow away. Standing, she looks around at her room, and heaves a tired sigh.]
If it comes back again when I fall asleep I am going to hurt something.
[She saw that fist-pump though, Riku. Her tail wags and she gives him a smile.]

he's praying]

[he opens his eyes to look at her] I don't know what that thing is, but I know you'd stop it long before it got near anyone that you cared about.

he's also blushing, cheeks and the back of his neck burning hotly, but he tries to ignore that] ...I don't think it will, Ammy.
Mine didn't come back, either.
