Sports Day Again

My new school has their sports festival first semester instead of second semester like my other school, so I got to go to my 3rd Junior High sports festival this Saturday. Unfortunately due to my cameras' lack of will to live, I don't have pictures of that.

It was interesting that this school did some things differently than my old school. For example, they kept a running tally of the scores for each team posted in the back. Also, instead of team cheering/dances being the "entertainment" portion, it was broken up into boys and girls. The girls did a dance and the boys did crazy (and dangerous looking!) pyramid things. The grand finale was when they made pyramids with five layers of people. Five! The kid on top was really high up there.

Overall, I had more fun than at previous sports festivals. At the old school, spectators, teachers, and students all had their own sections that they basically kept to. In this sports festival, while the students had a designated area, everyone pretty much was spread out all over the school grounds, so I spent most of my day wandering around and chatting with various groups of students. I also played with a group of little girls from the elementary school who had siblings at the Junior High. At the end of the festival, one of the littlest ones (5 years old I think) came up and gave me a big hug and said "Daisuki!" which means either "I really like you" or "I love you" depending on how you translate it. Awwwwwwww

And I participated in the teachers/PTA "carry a golf ball in a ladle" relay! My team lost, but it was fun.
