Harry James Potter and the Gigantic Goblet of Flaming Fire

Soooo... I know there aren't nearly enough reviews of the new HP out there on people's livejournals. :) Since I'm feeling particularly magnanimous tonight, I will bless you with my humble opinion. I will also be equally nice and put it under an lj-cut, in case you can't stand reading another one.

Yeeeeah GoF. You basically summed up my reaction to it. Too choppy, no character development, and too much liberty taken with the original plot. Really, what bothered me the most, though, was the way the dealt with Crouch jr. "It seems Azkaban is missing a prisoner." WTF. They make this huge deal in PoA about how Sirius Black is the first and only person to ever escape Azkaban, have Dementors all over the freaking place, but by GoF it's not a big deal? No one noticed he was gone? Seriously pissed me off.

And yeeeeah Harry/Cedric. Omg. "You know the prefects' bathroom? Nice place for a bath You hot little piece of ass, you." I cackled.

I...yeah. I don't know if I liked it or not. There was so much that bothered me. I guess I'll just have to see it again.

OH. And btw--Next weekend Netflix is sending me Brassed Off. Shall we plan for the Ewan-a-thon for then? ;)

Yes, I think that was the original plan. Ah, Brassed Off. Another quirky smalltown Scottish film. I liked it, but was v. annoyed with how it was advertised as being a completely different sort of movie. And Ewan doesn't have that big of a part in it, really. I was thinking more of stuff like Pillow Book and Velvet Goldmine and maybe A Life Less Ordinary. Nora and The Serpent's Kiss are a couple that I haven't seen. Another friend of mine suggested Down With Love, which I haven't seen in a while. And of course there's SW3 ( ... )

I have VG, Pillow Book, Down With Love, and A Life Less Ordinary, but not Nora or The Serpent's Kiss, or, sadly, RotS, though I do have TPM and AotC. (I don't know why everyone says TPM is the worst of all the SW movies. AotC is TERRIBLE and doesn't even have Liam Neeson to redeem it.)

It doesn't really matter to me where we do it, but my roommate Jane gets off work on Saturday at 4, so anytime after that is good. We have a TV/DVD player in our room, but it's quite small. So that's an option, as well.

*bounces* soexcited! S'totally going to rock.

And we ♥ our door. It is love. *pets Ewan and JRM*

Hee. I just realized that I put EG instead of EM. Which is extra funny because I know an EG and he does not fit the category at all. :D

I agree, TPM is so much better than AotC, even with Jar-Jar and the disappointing actor playing Anakin. As for being able to watch those movies you don't own, my roommate recently bought RotS, and I know for a fact that Serpent's Kiss is at Blockbuster. Come to think of it, they probably have Shallow Grave too. Love that movie. (Despise Blockbuster as general rule, but the pickin's are slim around here).

Help! Too many options! I think it will probably depend on what sort of mood we're in, whether we want action or horror or humor or eye candy. At least that's the way I work. Shall we save the decision-making for Saturday then? The location can be determined by availability.

...gawsh. I sound like such a flake. :)

LJ is being such a BUTT and not emailing me my comments. *smites it*

I suck terribly at making decisions, so no worries@ flakiness. *giggles*

*squee* I ♥ all the Qui/Obi scenes in TPM. S'the only reason to watch. Anakin? gag me. As for RotS--we can watch it, but I can't promise not to laugh through the entire thing. A friend and I developed a game for it and...well, I'm silly like that. ^^; Shallow Grave would be good to get, as well. Soooo good. And I was also thinking we could watch Trainspotting, even if it is a bit heavy-handed. Still an awesome movie. And well, VG because MAH. Haven't seen Serprent's Kiss, yet, so that may be good?

But yeah. Totally cool to wait and see the moods on Saturday. Should we like...plan to meet somewhere to decide this? Sometime?

Blaaaaah brain=dead. *g*
