(no subject)

I'm trying to get as much internet stuff done tonight, because tomorrow I will be unceremoniously booted from the mini geek station that I've set up in the loft. My mom is working from home tomorrow, which means a day full of conference calls (and being woke up whenever she's decided that if she has to be working and miserable, I should at least have to try spending time awake and trying to find something to do with myself). I'm trying to decide whether I can take my little show on the road and set up camp in my room, but I don't know how that's going to work.

Today I made an actual attempt at finding a job. I went over to the hospital to ask about translating services. I was told that there are no paid positions open (damn), and she didn't know about volunteering possibilities because that wasn't her area. Blah. It's just weird to me because she said that the people who do translating really only do it in emergencies and are on call. Which doesn't make sense, because a) in case of emergency, what if the people can't get there in a timely manner? and b) they need people just as much in normal office visits, and for non-emergencies too. I mean, that's how I got the idea a while ago to ask about translating there- because I was waiting for an appointment of my own when a family that didn't speak English came in for a check-up for a baby and no one there knew what to do. I guess I'm more than just a little frustrated about the whole situation, and not just because I wasn't able to get a paid job out of it.

So unless I'm able to pull out some kind of miracle, it's back to retail for me. I even stopped by the old job (and got to see some of my friends!) to see what they have available (anything where I don't have to deal with people please). We'll see. At least I'm trying to see what there is, which is good enough for now.

Tomorrow after a big family birthday celebration I'll be back with more music. And maybe I'll even upload CR pics? A few, at least. Hopefully.

my life is boring, jobs, family
