Today I didn't have to work, so I got up at two in the afternoon. I had a pleasant day of listening to and posting music. The highlight was having a caramel apple, and the lowlight was having all of the caramel drip onto my pajama pants.
I got another box.net account, because the first ran out of bandwidth (which I didn't know would happen, and if it were a possibility, that it would happen only two weeks after opening the account), so there will be music sometime in the near future.
I also took the time to watch
An Inconvenient Truth, which was really good.
Opening- are we back in Relaxation? Wow. I shouldn't laugh, but it reminds me of the day when we were supposed to imagine ourselves at the lake. Good times, eh Megate?
Al Gore as a narrator: Hmm. The accent (which is a lot more pronounced than I remembered) gets a little getting used to, but I like how he structures things. And he's actually pretty good at it. Amazingly. He seems like he would be a good teacher/prof, and this would be a good intro video to any number of geography or science classes.
Al Gore as a person: All I can say is that I liked him before, and now I kind of love him. For making a documentary, for not just rolling over and leaving the public stage, for actually caring enough to keep on fighting. He's kind of really funny, too. I really like all of the little personal stories and jokes he adds in. Why couldn't he have been so personable before? Was it the pressure of running for office? Was it the influence of his party? God I wish we could have seen this side earlier, and that he could have made people understand stuff like this earlier. But then again, chances are that if he had won, he wouldn't have been able to do this, and he would still have the same dry public persona.
My favorite part: there's a lot of good stuff, but there's this excellent little Simpson-esque video about how global warming works. It's pretty funny.
My least favorite part: Any and all of the election 2000 footage. It's really, really hard to watch, knowing now everything that happens afterward.
Final thoughts: Well done. Some of the parts made me want to cry, but I'm a baby like that. I hope it gets more publicity and that people actually pay attention to it.
And I guess that's it right now. I have to work at 9 tomorrow (this?) morning, which means I'll be up at 7:30. Ew. At least I'm off by 1:30, so the day is going to feel long, but I'll at least have time to do stuff while there's sun* outside.
* This assumes the weather is going to be nice, rather than the 40-degree, cloudy days we've been having.
