I realized- it finally clicked- that the one thing I want to do with my life is: education.
That's the driving passion/force. It's what I'm interested in everything else in service TO.
I love nutrition not because I love food or food science or farming or gardening or obesity epidemic or fat shaming or whatever. I love nutrition in that I'm curious of how to use it to maximize our cognitive potential - especially how it feeds our children. I care about the lack of nutrition because I think the nutrition information and education isn't done right and I think it makes kids end up resenting things that are good for them. Also a lot of the information is conflicting and anecdoctal.
I care about feminism and feminist issues in that I want to promote the ability of women to succeed and I'm fascinated and in love with the resiliency of women all around the world - especially those profiled for being extrodinary - but also those that just want to exist and have a chance!! I think education is one of the great dividers and when I say education I'm not speaking of the idea of liberal education or higher education or the current structure - which is WILDLY broken - or that I want TO teach (I dont. I'm big picture and organization. I hate details and have very little patience).
I mean education in the broader sense of how /should/ we be feeding our minds. How can we integrate those lofty liberal critical thinking ideas with the importance of getting your hands dirty and knowing basic life skills and having - GRIT - and perseverance.
Can we install that perseverance and perceptive abilities with straight up cognitive knowledge (and life/finance skills) without sacrificing empathy? EMOTIONAL INTEGRITY MAKES THE WORLD BETTER IN EVERY FUCKING WAY - I SHOULD KNOW AS SOMEBODY WHO DOESN'T HAVE IT NATURALLY.
HOW CAN WE TURN EVERY GIRL INTO KATNISS EVERDEEN???
idk but maybe that's what I should be tapping into.
