Small talk with the old man. Let's see...tobeymanOctober 11 2005, 04:57:42 UTC
Sit down, it's ok. Celebrimbor knows his way around the kitchen pretty well. They don't need ME in there telling them what to do. Or YOU, for that matter. *laughs*
So tell me, is it true you have one of those rings? Is yours as sassy as Narya? Man, she's a talker, that one. Must drive you nuts. Maybe you should give it back to your son.

*raises one eyebrow* I am pleased to learn Celebrimbor has learned some skills of use. Indeed, I should like to hear more about how Celebrimbor spends his time here. With you.
*nearly falls off chair cooly* You know of Celebrimbor's rings? So it is the Ring of Fire he has. 'Sassy'? I do not believe I am familiar with that term. I am...safeguarding this particular ring. To possess too many of them is unwise. They can...change their bearer.
Sure, I know all about those rings! Maybe not everything, not all the history. Like I don't get what the big deal about them is, other than that they can talk. And Narya can do some magic with fire, yeah. 'Sassy' is common speech for 'runs her mouth' and 'tries to be funnier than me'.
You raised a really good kid, you know that? I'm not exactly sure how given that the two of you are sort of different. You got lucky. Celebrimbor has been doing a lot of research into the hobbits, learning more about the rings, that kind of thing. And you know he's an artist. Get this: He asked me to pose for him!
So Narya is...sassy. They seem to have unique, almost fully formed personalities, as well as the gift of speech. Though perhaps 'gift' is not the right word. Has he spoken to you about his research into the rings?
*smiles* You believe so? My son has quite a talent for saving his own hide; he seems to be enjoying this life. He asked you to pose for him. I see. Is that something you often do?
Do you know much about these hobbits? I have done a little reading on them myself. Fascinating creatures. It was an unexpected pleasure to meet several of them last night.
*quietly* I have never posed for him, either. He is quite gifted, is he not?
*testing* Celebrimbor mentioned he was planning to leave soon, to search for the last of his greatest rings. Will you be accompanying him?
*laughs* I assure you I have quite an appreciation for life. If I seem too serious, perhaps it is due to the family situation in which my son and I are currently mired.
He's very gifted. And sensitive. It's almost like he can read minds. I'm glad he can't read mine. He sure tries, though.
We've talked about my going on the journey. I want to help him. In a way, I owe it to him. He's been so good and gracious--I've never met anyone like him. *blushes* This is starting to sound a little weird.
*changes subject back to the Noldor family* So you, Celebrimbor and your own father don't exactly get along. It's none of my business. Except...that father of yours! I almost had to take him down, he was doing things to Celebrimbor that I sure didn't like!
It would be a difficult, perhaps treacherous journey. I am sure he would benefit from having you with him. How did you two meet? I was puzzled to learn he was here in the Shire.
Our family history is...rather rough, yes. As for our not getting along, I suspect the problem is that we are too much alike in some respects. *laughs* I would have been sorry to miss seeing that! Have you fought many Elves? *quietly* My father's drive makes him very dangerous, both to himself and to those around him.

Sit down, Father. You must be weary from your long night with Grandfather.

No, I've never posed for him before. Have you?
The hobbits are cool. They know how to cook and enjoy life. You could learn from them. You seem kind of serious.
