I cleaned yesterday, just trying to purge the empty paperwork that gets stuck in drawers and jammed across tables and chairs wherever I spend my time. As it turns out, there was a great deal of it
It's before the semester begins still. (only a few days before) But that still means that I had a chance to check out the technology fair at the Rockwell cage this morning. It's billed as being about the technologies in development at companies who are eagerly trying to recruit MIT engineers and scientists. The official career fair part of the event isn't until tomorrow. Even so, many of the booths were focused mainly on interviewing potential candidates, albeit informally, so not all of them were happy to see me. I'm not what they're looking for.
One booth particularly caught my eye with its six foot banner:
It's just like the nursebots in japan. Except.. with tank legs. And malice in his ant-like eyes. They want to eventually outfit him with a laser arm (plasma cannon anyone?) that can use IR to collect information about soil conditions, humidity, and determine whether or not the injured solider he just picked up happens to be radioactive or doused in a biological weapon.
