Literally. I had a great time at AT3 meeting Amanda. She is the most warm and personal person I've ever met. She kept me on a roller coaster of emotions during the Q & A's with her stories and silly comments and many of them will stay with me forever. From consoling women going through fertility problems to describing her laugh as a gopher of crack *snickers* it was a wonderful time.
As I stood in line for the photo op with everyone and listened to how nervous they were about meeting her, I dunno why but I didnt seem fazed by it all. She's an amazing and beautiful woman sure but she's just like everyone else and her openness with everyone about her stories during the weekend certainly proved it. She puts her jeans on each morning one leg at a time like everyone else, she gets sick, she makes mistakes and forgets to put her toothpaste up off the ground in the Artic (lol), and misses those she loves. This is why I love her so though. She's not pretentious or trying to make herself into something she's not. So anyway, when it was my turn to take my picture with Amanda, I just thought it would be a quick one. Say hi, nice to meet you, smile, click and move on...especially with the Gabit staff trying to keep it all running smoothly. Instead though she greeted me and immediately asked where I was from which took me aback a bit cos I wasnt expecting it. Might have been because of my blatant American accent but who knows...hehe. She asked when I had arrived in England and when I was leaving and expressed how happy she was that I was able to come even though it was going to only be for just a short visit. She's just lovely. I gave her the biggest hug before I moved off as I couldnt help it. *sighs happily*
I have many more stories, many more memories to tell of the whole weekend but that will have to wait for another time as I'm still a bit jetlagged and fighting off my first cold in two years...bleugh. I met many wonderful people too and put faces to names finally of those I've been talking to for quite some time which was awesome. I exchanged emails with people from around the world and am quite thrilled with the whole weekend experience. I'm still amazed how one very humble, down to earth woman can bring so many people together. Is it time to buy tickets for AT4 yet?
Amanda's now infamous phone call *g*
