Fall break

Today was our fall break; I still had to get up at the usual 5:15 though, to take SO to his carpool-mate's house (who then dropped him off at the airport this afternoon - he has a family event this weekend). Walked Juno, worked on LIS assignment (ick ick ick, this one), picked up CSA. It's chilly here today, the heat even kicked on!

CSA had: 2 bunches radishes (I managed to give 1 bunch to our neighbors though), 1 large sweet potato, 4 cukes, salad greens, some sort of cooking green, turnips, mixed small sweet peppers, 1 green bell pepper, 1 Japanese eggplant. I think that was it. I also bought some eggs.

Going to make gumbo base tomorrow, which will use the turnip greens and other cooking greens and most of the peppers and some old garlic. Salad, of course, with greens, cukes, radishes. Still have last week's eggplant so I think I'll grill the eggplant tomorrow. Have last week's sweet potato still too, so probably enough to warrant making oven fries with those. I also plan to make crockpot chicken, and need to think of another main dish to fill out the week - will look at grocery specials and see if I'm inspired; or maybe baked tofu with peppers. Am having salmon casserole (the version SO doesn't like as well) tonight. And never got around to making brownies last week, so maybe those tomorrow too.

We're going to go see a stage production of Sweeney Todd two weeks from tomorrow - SO's idea. Hope it's good!
