Errand-y day

Usual work-up-the-list and then grocery shopping, plus the liquor store. Went to the mall (!!!) with SO -- he needed to have his computer looked at and the Apple store is there. We also looked at new cell phones (not the iPhone, though, as it's not compatible with our service). Stopped to pick up some shoes SO had reheeled, got a take-and-bake pizza (yay that there's a place in the city now), and did a 3+ mile walk. Trying to get back to the exercise routine. Oh, and we each had a 10-minute acupressure massage at the mall, which was nice.

We watched Another Country while eating pizza. I hadn't seen it before; Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, and Cary Elwes, at a boys' public school (Eton, I think? not sure it's ever stated) in the 1930s. The film's from 1985 but has aged pretty well. Queer-themed, but PG-rated. I enjoyed it overall although the framing story -- Everett as an old man living in Russia and being interviewed -- did not strike me as terribly effective. One needs to know more about the history of European politics, and defections to Communism and the like, for that structure to work. But the acting was generally good and the cinematography very well done.

films, random life stuff
