End-of-holiday comments
Right, just a last few things about my jaunt to points north the last week. I had a good time visiting sis, BiL, and the niblings overall, though with two small kids there were moments of ick, of course. But it's fun to see them growing up and turning into actual small people with personalities; infants are kind of cute but they're not especially interesting to me as the interaction is minimal other than on a reflexive level. Took a bunch of pics at the zoo, mostly of the critters but a couple with the niblings; in the vague future when I actually get them developed, if any are good I might post.
The drive, as I said yesterday, was pretty good for the first 2/3 or 3/4, but the last several hours were tense as it rained that whole time, sometimes very heavily and with lightning & thunder. I don't mind storms qua storms, but I don't enjoy driving through them, not at high speed with semis racing alongside. At least it was still daytime and so there was some visibility despite heavy dark clouds. What was worst for me is that of course I can't use cruise control in those circumstances, so I can't shift positions very easily and I got very tense and stiff, hips back and neck especially. My neck hasn't tweaked out completely again but it didn't help any (though being at home on my own bed w/ my own pillows and sleeping late did help a bit).
So today was catch-up day. Went and paid the rent, picked up the mail being held at the P.O., and have nearly finished paying all the bills that are now due. It's rather annoying that we have a bunch of things due more or less at the beginning of the month, then another bunch due in mid-month. It would be so much simpler to be able to do them all at the same time!
