TGIF, yep.
One more week till I leave for Idaho and my family reunion, yay! Sounds like all of the siblings (i.e. my dad and his siblings) and seven of the ten grandchildren, plus a majority of spouses and some great-grandkids, will be there. Should be fun. I'll have to check later to see what the weather is supposed to be like, as late June can be just about anything there.
Today I have mostly worked on weeding the history collection - the European part, not the rest. It's not technically my area but since I have Much Background in European history, and the history librarian's background is in US history, plus my own areas had many fewer items to evaluate for weeding, I get the European history. Which is cool. I'm trying to be fairly harsh as everything on the list is pre-1960 to begin with; keeping things mostly if they've seen a lot of use, and/or have famous authors, and/or are good reference or primary sources. This is a university library but it is not a research library, and the history department only offers undergraduate degrees, so it's better to get rid of outdated stuff that would confuse or mislead undergraduates. Plus, of course, we need the room.
SO finally made it to his destination of DC last night after having his first flight much delayed, and missing his connection. Phew. For a while I thought I might have to go back to get him from the airport yesterday afternoon. His absence means I have to pick up the CSA this week, and owing to my desk/reference schedule today, I had to drive rather than walk again today. So I will probably do as I did last night and take Juno for a good walk after I get home. Also, I am having cube steak for dinner. Yum. Meat.
Just realized that I think SO will be in the UK over our anniversary this year. :-( Not that that has not happened several times in the past, that we have not been together for the day (usually owing to someone's research trip), but still a bummer.
Last staff evaluation later this afternoon, and then I'm done with those, hurrah! And, we heard the word yesterday that we WILL get $$$ from the insurance towards the roof. Still have to get the permission from the historical preservation folks, but that should not be a problem; and then make one or two last decisions on details, and schedule the work. YAY NEW ROOF!
