Par for the course

Well, I will not be getting the Mirena IUD after all. My doctor could not even get the scope or whatever it's called in properly, meaning that she could not place the IUD. Most likely explanation is fibroid recurrence (either the one removed has come back, or there's a new one right smack dab in the way). That's my body, being uncooperative as usual. *eyeroll* So she gave me several months' worth of samples of a low-dose pill, and if that seems to be doing okay for me after a couple of months I'll get a prescription for that one. Not the end of the world or anything, just annoying, and definitely par for the course for my body.

Also today I have:
  • walked Juno
  • renewed my driver's license
  • gotten passport pictures to renew my (oops, expired) passport
  • bought dog kibble
  • bought milk
  • gassed up the car
  • done our taxes
The last of which took all flipping afternoon; actually I felt I got through that fairly quickly, all things considered, including the fact that I had a megaload of medical receipts/statements to sort and categorize since we had more than enough medical expenses to itemize and deduct them this year. The good news is that oh yes, there will be a nice big refund, which means we can pay off the credit card (phew) and get the shower/bathroom fixed, which I will definitely like since I have been shower-less for getting on for two years now. I haven't actually filed the tax returns yet as SO always likes to look them over first, but hopefully tonight. The sooner filed, the sooner the refund shows up in the bank account, after all.

No ficlet today, sorry; I think I have two more in the can right now, so tomorrow and Thursday probably. Both those days I also am going out to lunch with friends at work, yay, almost making up for the fact that another of my students quit, and one wants to reduce hir hours, so I think I will be hiring/training two more in the next couple of weeks, as well as trying to ensure that everything is organized and able to be handed over to my successor. I seriously hope my boss does not move any of the current staff in our department into my position; I think there would be major tension if not ruckus were that to happen. Hiring from the outside would be a much better choice, if that's feasible.

Juno didn't get her usual afternoon walk today (when I or SO is here, our dog-walker next door often does not walk her since he figures we will). She is now soliciting for either a walk or her dinner, but it is nearly an hour till her mealtime... maybe I will walk her a little bit before it, and then start prepping dinner (need to make Mexican rice, I'll heat the tamales and vegetables once SO is home).

finances, cc job, taxes, medical, i hate my body, done did, dog
