Happy Christmas!
...to all those who celebrate. We've had a nice low-key day so far; the last several hours have mostly been spent talking with various relatives on the phone, after present-opening this morning. The only negative thing so far today was that we gave Juno a smoked wild boar bone, and it was not strong enough to stand up to her jaws, so instead of gnawing on it she actually crunched up and ate nearly the whole thing - so we are keeping a close eye on her for the next couple of days to make sure that nothing bad happens with bone bits in her insides. Right now she just seems to be snoozing as usual for midday, so hopefully nothing bad will happen.
I was given three gifts at Yuletide! *dances* Going in notification order, the first is "Fake Plastic Life," a Galaxy Quest piece that is a character study of Alexander Dane, and is wonderful. I especially love the bit regarding the facial prosthetic. *vbg* The other two were both Sense and Sensibility fics. "New Possibilities" features the Dashwood sisters plus Colonel Brandon; headstrong Margaret is the central character, who seizes her best chance to do what she has longed for in imagination for years. A nice feel of Austen in this one. "The Pleasures of Quiet Society" (by the same author as the other!) focuses on Sophia Grey, the heiress whom Willoughby marries. This ficlet is lovely and subtle and gave me a quiet chuckle. I quite liked her Sophia! And my own Yuletide recipient liked hir gift, so I am very pleased by that!
