A whole bunch of stuff
Yesterday I posted a fic in a new fandom (link below), taught my last regular classes (in current job... possibly ever), paid some bills, did more book-exchange between home and office, sat on a PhD oral exam (student passed), and went to my departmental awards banquet, where our head said nice things about me as I am leaving, and I also to my surprise and pleasure had been chosen by the undergraduate club as professor of the year (tied with another colleague), for the second time. *beams*
SO felt we needed to celebrate that, so given that payday was yesterday, we went out to lunch for Japanese today. Yum. I also did shopping (Target, health food store, 2 groceries) and gassed up the car for Monday. SO needed to find suede to have a jacket mended (not by me!), so we also went to what turned out to be a good fabric store - more on the wedding/prom type fabric, not so much things like cool cotton batiks, but they have a good selection of wool suiting etc. and thus is a resource for when I make a new cape, huzzah! Also today I have paid more bills (got the CC paid off, whee!). I have a bunch of grading to do, and still have a lot of books to unbox/box. I'm thinking I may deal with the books tonight but grade tomorrow.
First CSA of the year! SO picked it up since he was driving more or less past the farm anyhow to come to my banquet. It had: radishes, green onions, spinach, some other cookable green (baby mustard, maybe?), mixed salad greens, and a few baby turnips. Menus this week: roasted pork ribs for me tonight, turkey loaf for SO (although he may be going out to dinner with woeful colleague, don't know yet), plus I'm going to turn leftover rice into a salad w/ peas, grape tomatoes, parsley, and a lemon-shallot-olive oil dressing; also make green salad w/ the CSA greens and radishes. There will be enough ribs and turkey loaf for at least 3 meals total, maybe 4. I'll grill spicy Asian shrimp tomorrow (enough for 2 meals - sale on big shrimp this week), and cook spinach. The other greens will wait till Monday or Tuesday, and I'll probably hang onto the turnips and see if we get more next week or the week after, because they're hardly enough to bother with, probably not even two servings.
The new fandom for me is The Breakfast Club; inell requested a teenyfic for florahart and asked if I could try that one, so I did. Except it turned out to be over 4K, not a teenyfic at all! Ah well. Hopefully now that's out of my brain (which it occupied all week) I can get back to HotM and the other stuff I need to write.
