70% of Americans polled (N=815) believe a woman should change her last name to her husband's when they get married; 50% believing it should be required by law (source)

Respondents who believed it should be required also answered conservatively on other questions. And here I was thinking that "small government that stays out of my personal life" was supposed to be some sort of conservative value. Silly me.
