I followed Lego Lee and he brought me to this drama gem,
In A Good Way. Although I've been capping Love At 17 rather religiously, IAGW easily makes into my all-time favourite drama that I'd highly recommend to ANY drama-watchers. The drama is so humble, the characters is well-written from the first til the last bit and Lego Lee potrays the boy-next-door Liu Chuan perfectly. IAGW reminds me so much of Orange Days which is one of my personal favourite college j-doramas.
Lego Lee's Liu Chuan takes me back to those days when I had a crush on Tsumabuki Satoshi's Kai. Their sensitivity made me swoon. For Jia En, I feel like I watch her grows up all the way through the drama. Jia En x Liu Chuan is in the top of my OTP list. I get cavities from their adorableness. And my jaw hurts from smiling too much while watching (and rewatching) their OTP friendship and romance.
This drama gives a taste of college life 1995-1999 Taipei. Lin Jia En follows her childhood best friend Ren Wei to Taipei, who attended college in the city. On her first day in Taipei, she get pickpocketed and Ren Wei didn't return her BB call. She tries to find him at his dorm. She got the wrong room instead and she met the most popular guy on campus, Liu Chuan. She didn't get into the college in the same year as Ren Wei. So she re-sit the entrance exam with Liu Chuan's help and successfully get accepted the following year.
There's so many other reason to watch the drama. Jia En friendship with Ren Wei, Bai Xue and Ren Wei, the bromance, the OST, Taiwan pop oldies, The Treasure Hunt Society members and other OTP besides Liu Chuan & Jia En. I don't know anything about Taiwanese pop culture reference mentioned in the drama except for Sailor Moon, Tamagotchi, Jacky Cheung, Amura-fashion & Iwai Shunji's Love Letter. My beginning of Taiwanese pop culture was Meteor Garden. IAGW walked me through Taiwan history and its pop culture prior to Meteor Garden. I were in a different place in 1995 yet I can relate to many aspects of the drama. I LOL-ed upon seeing those CRT monitors, green-black screens, a diskette, and payphone queues. Still, it's a very nice drama to watch that'll make you nostalgic about your college days and first love. It's so hard to move on from this drama.
Jia En: I feel that, this can't be real. We are really together.
Liu Chuan:Being with you is the most real thing of my life.
Day 1
Why so sweet.
ETA: The ending is a great for hatsukoi romance. I wish they have Year 2005 sequel.
