The next couple of days passed quietly as Christina got to know her grandson, son and daughter-in-law, she went through photo albums with Sara, helped Lj with some schoolwork, and spent whatever time with Micheal that she could.
Three days after she had arrived at the house Micheal had his first day off and she was with him in what was soon to be the nursery, he was painting a mural on the wall and she watched fascinated as he painted in animals and flowers and clouds without any apparent reference to any plans or drawings or anything (in fact Christina was fairly sure there were no plans.)
"When did you change your name?" She asked softly as Micheal added a lion to the forest.
When I first went to live with the Pope's" He replied "I felt I needed to make a fresh start, I had never met Aldo and by that stage I didn't want to know Linc."
Christina nodded in understanding, "Did you know my maiden name or did you have to look it up?"
"I remembered it" Micheal replied.
"How" she paused "I mean I didn't know that you knew it."
Micheal smiled "Remember that yo-yo you confiscated of Lincoln for breaking that window?" She nodded and Micheal made a face, "Linc was taking the blame for me."
Christina's mouth fell open and Micheal smiled slightly "When I asked him why he took the blame for me he just said I had a perfect record and we could exploit that later on." They both laughed at that before Micheal continued "It didn't seem fear that he got his yo-yo taken away because of me, I saw you put it in your desk and I knew you hardly ever went in there so I opened the draw and gave it back to Linc, while I was in there I saw your marriage certificate as well."
"You were only around six at the time, did you know what marriage was?" Christina asked.
"I did what I do best and researched it" he replied.
"That makes sense" she paused "Wait, I remember giving that yo-yo back at the end of the punishment."
Micheal grinned "Well if I hadn't put it back the night before you might have been suspicious."
Christina shook her head "And you are a agent that enforces the law."
Just at that moment Sara appeared in the doorway, she had been in and out or morning avoiding the paint fumes because of her pregnancy, but this time she had Micheal's phone in her hand, which she handed to him, "Agent Morris" she told him as he put the phone to his ear.
Micheal frowned, "It's my day off" He said plaintively into the phone.
"We have been talking to someone today that is apparently a person of interest to you," Agent Morris said in his usual brisk voice.
"Name?" Micheal asked after he swallowed some water.
"Frank Tancredi" Agent Morris replied.
Micheal raised his eyebrows, "Your right he is a person of interest to me but why is he of interest to you?" he asked.
"Micheal he is the Governor of Illinois, the Company have tried to bribe him with votes to go their way a couple of times so we are questioning him on what he knows about them."
Micheal nodded "Ok hold on a moment" He went to find Sara who had gone into their room. "Frank Tancredi is currently being interviewed at NCIS, do you want to go and meet him?" she nodded and Micheal spoke into the phone "Ok I'm coming in."
One hour later Frank Tancredi looked up from his coffee as a young couple entered the room. "Governer Tancredi?" The man asked and smiled as Frank nodded, "My name is Micheal and this is my wife Sara, I suppose you are wondering what you are still doing here."
Frank smiled ruefully "I feel like my head has been turned over and shaken to see what falls out."
Micheal smiled "We are very good at getting information" He acknowledged "My wife would like to ask you questions on what I assure you is a completely unrelated topic."
Frank looked at Sara properly for the fist time, she was a little bit nervous and obviously pregnant. Frank thought she may have been a couple of months along but wasn't sure as he had never really been around a woman in that position before.
Micheal put a hand on her shoulder and she suddenly found the strength to look up and ask the question, "Does the name Angela Murphy mean anything to you?"
Frank became curious, "She was a girlfriend of mine in College for a short while, to be honest now that I look back on it I don't know what I saw in her."
Frank was too involved in his memories to notice the other two struggling to hide smiles and so was surprised by what came next, "She is my mother" Sara said simply.
Frank blinked, "Oh, ok how is she?" He said trying to be polite.
Sara shrugged "I don't know, she got a new boyfriend when I was thirteen and he didn't like kids so I was kicked out onto the streets."
Frank was horrified "How did you survive?"
Sara shrugged again but Frank saw a shadow cross her face, "It was a long time ago" she said in dismissal "The thing is I was always told that you were my father so I was wondering if you would consent to a paternity test?"
Frank was shocked, had he had a daughter all these years without knowing? He was now a important man could there be a ulterior motive?.
Micheal watched Frank hesitate and guessed the reason, "We have happy and full lives here, soon it will get even fuller" he said gesturing towards Sara's belly, "We are not looking for acknowledgement or money or anything" He assured Frank.
"It is just after all these years I want to know one way or another" Sara finished.
"Ok how quickly can we get this done" Frank asked.
Half an hour later Micheal was talking to Director Shephard in her office, she folded her arms as she talked to him, "So your telling me that the Governer of Illinois who we just interviewed regarding the Company has just been confirmed as your father-in-law?"
Micheal nodded not bothering to hide his amusement.
"Wonderful" She said "I am so glad I took you off the case so quickly, tell me Agent Scofield are there anymore connections between you and this case?"
Micheal blinked and shook his head "There couldn't possibly be any more" he replied.
Director Shepherd smiled and shook her head, "When it comes to you Micheal, I'm starting to believe almost anything is possible."
